[size=10]You are kindly asked to read this before posting your problem in this forum. This post has the answer to the most common problems that occur to people while trying to play Hitman: Contracts. Please do not fill the forum with problems that are already solved here. If your problem is NOT solved after following these solutions, please FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES on the bottom of this post while posting your problem in order to help us find you a solution. Welcome to the Hitman: Contracts community.

If you think you can help this thread, reply any solution you know that HAS NOT already been posted in here. Please, DO NOT post any questions, help keep this helping thread readable.

Q: I can't even get the game to start! I have an ATI Radeon card.

A: Download the .174 patch and install it. It should fix your issue. If that still doesn't solve your problem, try putting the CD on an other DVD or CD drive (if you have a second one) and start the game again.

Still nothing? Try the OpenGL hack then, though on your own risk because it's unsupported:

1. Open HitmanContracts.ini inside your Hitman: Contracts folder with notepad.
2. Go to Edit > Find and type DrawDLL RenderD3D.dll
3. Replace it with: DrawDLL RenderOpenGL.dll
4. Save the file and close Notepad.

Note that the above procedure is unsupported, movies are unplayable (you can always skip them by hitting the Escape key) and gameplay may not be flawless, but it has been reported to be a workaround.

If none of these work, sorry but I can't help you, try to follow the guidelines on the bottom of this post in order to help us find you a solution.


Q: Gameplay is very laggy and I get very low FPS rates.


A: First of all, make sure you meet the minimum requirements stated in the ReadMe file included with Hitman: Contracts and that you have already downloaded the latest drivers for your Graphics Card and Sound Card.

A first solution is to go to Graphic Options, More Options and DISABLE Post-Filter. It is used to enable Motion Blur, certain Weather Effects but needs one of the latest graphics card. And even with the latest graphics card it is known to be a huge resource eater, so it is NOT recommended to use it.

If you are still getting choppy gameplay, try reducing other values too in the Graphic Options and EAX in the Sound Options.


Q: Game shows only a black or white screen when I try to start a new game or go to the training level.

A: Download new drivers for your graphics card. Mostly happens with NVidia graphic cards. For NVidia, any drivers after 53.xx will work.


Q: Videos seem to skip all the time, audio goes constantly on and off making the movies untolerable.


A: This is a random problem with Bink Videos (the kind that Hitman uses). It's random depending on the configuration but still no solution has been found.


Q: Game seems like it is constantly in Slow-Motion!

A: This means you had installed the Demo first, and then overwritten it with Hitman: Contracts. Uninstall both Hitman: Contracts and the Demo, delete the folder they were installed completely, then install Hitman: Contracts again. If it doesn't work, just install it in a different folder.


Q: My problem is not posted here or/and is not solved!

A: Take a look at the FAQ, although it says it applies to Hitman 1 & 2, most of it applies to Hitman Contracts too. Visit it here: http://hitmanforum.c.../faq_hitman.php
If none of this work, make a new post, making sure you STATE CLEARLY your problem (insulting and calling names at anyone won't solve your problem - also make sure you don't ask anything about cracks, no-cd fixes or copy settings/utilities, you RISK GETTING BANNED) as well as your Computer Specifications (you can find all the following by going Start > Run > DXDiag):

- Motherboard: System tab > System Manufacturer and Model
- CPU: System tab > Processor
- RAM: System tab > Memory
- Graphics Card: Display tab > Device > Manufacturer and Model
- Graphics Card drivers: Display tab > Drivers > Version
- Sound Card: Sound (1) tab > Device > Name
- Sound Card drivers: Sound (1) tab > Drivers > Provider and Version
- Hard Disk Drives and Free Space: (not in DXDiag) My Computer
- DirectX version: System tab > DirectX Version

Something to add......

Those gamers having problems like

---Files copied from one IDE hard disk drive to another are corrupted
---The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up") when playing sounds, especially to a Creative SoundBlaster LIVE! card
---The computer stops when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW drive
---Sounds played by a Creative Labs sound card are distorted

Only for those having VIA chipset. It's called the PCI latency. Try this

What website would that be? PCI latency isn't my probllem, but it may be related to the framerate issue I'm getting after patching and killing the post-filter.

Please reply fast.
Im having a wierd problem with my resolution. My Hitman 3, when i load it, HALF the screen shows up, the resolution is distorted, so half the screen takes up the whole monitor, and the top of the game, is at the bottom. ITs hard to explain.

Simply put, the resolution is out of place, the whole screen is streteched out, so only half the game fits on the screen. Any suggestions ??

PC specs are:
2.6 ghz
512 DDR RAM
Gforce 4 Mx 440 64 DDR
i got the latest drivers for my graphics card...
any help ?

try go to C:ProgramEidosHitman Contracts

then open hitmancontracts.ini with notepad. Youll find "resolution" and then number x number. Remove the numbers and leave the x. Then see what resolution you got on your desktop and write it in there so it will look like this (for exampel) 1024x768

I'm sad! I want to play this game but even after I read the tutorial and used it Hitman 3 still crashes when I try to play it, I have an ATI radeon 9600 128mb, i have the lateist drivers, i dont know if its related to the vid card, anyone know anyonther sullutions?

Hi,
I'm having a problem which is when I go to the training and after the loading complete, the game crashes to the desktop with no error messages. Whats the problem? and it happened to me on both XP and ME
PC Specs:
1.7mhz processer
128 FX 5200 nvidia
512mb DDR RAM
and all latest drivers and latest patch have been already aquired and the problem remains.

Thanks for the advice. I got the game for PC the other day, and it was so laggy it was unbelievable. I changed the "Post Filter" option and it works perfectly now :good: .

Hi,

The video card, I had the same problem with F.E.A.R. I upgraded my video card and it worked. I think you too are facing the same problem. Upgrade your video card.

If your game crashes to the desktop every time you load a new game or you want to acces the
training area your game CD might be false and you need a *****

WHY my contracts does not work! when i start a game, the voices hear but noting in the screen. please help me!


same problem here. patched the game, going to try to find an updated video driver now (GeForce 7900GS, win vista)

EDIT: New drivers solved the problem. Game runs great now.

My Hitman doesn't works on Widnows Vista . Read this !


I can't play HITMAN CONTRACTS ON WINDOWS VISTA. When I got my old PC with Windows XP I could play HC with no Troubleshooting. But now I can't play HC . I always reveice message like this :


Hitman exe. has been stoped working...

[Main Instruction]
Hitman: Contracts has stopped working

[Content]
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

^^ OMG people who quote huge posts should be gaged and whipped.


Anyways I'm trying to get resolution 1440x900 and it appears thats hitman does not have this option. I have a widescreen monitor. Its warped or stretched when I'm playing and it really sucks. Aside from that its running like a demon with my dual core Athelon cpu and 1 gig of ram.

I tried editing the ini file and put 1440x900 and that didn't work it overwrite it again with 600x800 for some reason.
Is there any hack or patch that make contracts work on widescreen? (1440x900) I also have Vista basic (32bit)
