So Ive been getting some really crappy FPS rates at high settings, with 1.2, new drivers, SP2...EVERY other (new) game Ive got runs flawlessly on really high settings, and my system exceeds the recommended hardware...anybody with a comparable system running it on high settings (1280x1024, 6x AA,16x AF, PPE on high) getting decent framerates? Just trying to find out if its simply the game thats so hardware-consuming that my system cant handle it, or if theres something wrong....thanks.

Why do you need AA at that high resolution? Turn it off and see what happens <_<

No luck, doesnt give me a big boost...and I want it for the sake of it, because my system should handle it...BTW this is what I got at the systemrequirements lab test provided by EIDOS..."Congratulations, your system will ROCK this product! Wish we had a system that hot you lucky dog." Not really seeing any of that....<_<

What excactly are the clock rates on an X1600?

Also, what soundcard are you using? Onboard? Turn it off in DXDiag if that's the case.

Jep onboard...what do you mean...turn off? The hardware acceleration? I did that, but it only got me some nice sound-stuttering...:S

I don't think there's anything wrong with your system. Bear in mind the X1600 is a mid range card around
the 6600GT level (my previous card). I'd consider taking the resolution down a notch, removing shadows
entirely also. That's pretty much what I always had to do before upgrading with a similar spec card.

I'm not sure what new games you're playing flawlessly at high settings, but as far as I could see it, the best
I could get was 1280x1024 mid settings or 1024x768 mid/high with a touch of AA if I was lucky which varied
from game to game.

Either way, regardless of your onboard sound likely sucking a bit of life out of your processor, you GPU is
the culprit holding you back.

I really think you're just bugged. Did you install patch 1.2?

I can run with *everything* cranked to max with no slowdown with the same system and a 6800 GTOC 256.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sound is always the last thing on my list personally. I doubt your sound
is holding you back all that much with your current specs. If you want to find out just how much it's affecting
your gaming, you could always disable it entirely <_< There's not really much you can do about it aside from
grab a dedicated soundcard. I'd rather put the money towards other parts first, and then when you notice
sound starting to hold your performance back noticably, grab one.

LOL your dreamin if you think you can run it max with a 6600gt equivalent. have one oc'd pretty heavily and it runs it well on
1024 X 768
2xAA 4xAF
everything else max
no vsync
hard shadows

EDIT: my specs are pretty much identical to yours apart from the video card which is apprently around the equivalent.

:S Thing is Iam getting like 30 FPS with your settings, wich to me is NOT playable....

Yesterday I got myself the demo of Prey. Ramped everything up to max...1024x768, it runs like a charm, a constant 60 FPS....so wtf is wrong with Hitman, I cant even run it at a constant, decent frame rate at 1024x768, 2x AA, 2x AF, and NO post process effects....

Well for your info im getting 40-80 fps with an X1800XT TOP (700/1.6) from ASUS at 1280X1024 4xAA 16xAF and the rest maxxed out.

Try disabling AA and AF alltogether. And lower resolution to 1024X768 and put the rest to maximum settings. If you get 30+fps then you´re fine. If you want even more performance disable the postfilters.

Also, check the technical FAQ for a link to a thread that explains the diffrent settings and decide what you want to remove for better performance.
Antec P180 | Silverstone Strider 600W | ASUS Maximus V Gene | Intel i5-3570K 4.7GHz [Noctua NH-U12P SE2] | 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-2000 9-10-9-24-1T | Sapphire HD 4890 1GB 960MHz | SyncMaster 2433BW 1920X1200 | Razer Lachesis | Razer Sphex | Sennheiser HD-555 | SupremeFX III | Samsung Spinpoint F3 | Windows 7 Professional SP1 X64

Hmmm, Ive done that....it still drops bellow 30 fps at times...wich it simply shouldnt...people with similar systems are running it perfectly on much higher settings. Even my friggin laptop (1,7 GHZ Centrino, 64 Mb Ati 9600) runs it at a constant 35 or so with AA and Post process off, 1024x768 and everything else on high....

in my opinion cheap+good doesn't exist, I'm not suggesting you pay 200 bucks for a sound card, but it would be better if you buy something decent, it will last alot longer than a cheap budget card, bet heh, that's me

I agree sound cards always should be on a gamers list, the sound processor does all the work for sound rather than the system doing it, dont bother with cheapo cards they are useless, only use onboard sound if its soundstorm chip, if not go for Audigy 2 upwards {dont bother with Value or SE} you can buy them for less than £30 or this brand new Audigy 4 for £33 from ebuyer dam thats cheap

Ever played Battlefield with cheapo sound card? you would know what stutter means if you had.

Dont buy the next game and youve got a decent sound card!! :good:

My soundsystem is currently connected to the s/pdif exit wich was on my mainboard, I've got a DTT3500 Digital set, just no soundcard, but I can play the game with EAX and no lag, so perhaps this is also a solution for you.

Intergrated soundmax, the best? Never, works? yeh :)
