Forever and batman and robin yes...Burtons, no...Yes they are ignoring the old films. They were shit for the most part anyway.
Lets compare.
Alright Bale as batman tells a guy to "Fear ME!" Mike as batman takes a fire poker and smashes shit and screams "You wanna get nuts Come on! lets get nuts!"
Batman in begins is refered to by the people right at the start as a guy in a costume. The people in burtons dont even know what he is, he is a myth an urban ledged its only at the end that they find out he is a man.
burtons batman is way darker and cooler..he is more stealth and really crazy.
The villians are also cooler...The joker was awesome in burtons no one can deny.

Burton's two Batman films were fantastic. Like gothic, operatic fairytales, dark and stylish with some absolutely great visual design. Danny Elfman's music just soars... Michael Keaton is great in it, and really shows that he's more than just a comedian.
That being said, they aren't good Batman adaptations. The villains are given the front row and Bruce Wayne/Batman is pushed back. The movies are overly stylish/gothic/operatic in comparison to the source material, Batman is made into a killer (which is absolute anathema), and the suit is so rigid that none of his moves look very impressive. Casting is also just off. Like I said, I enjoyed Keaton in the Burton movies... but Michael Keaton is not portraying the Bruce Wayne I know from the comics... Gordon was just terrible as far as adaptations go...
Batman Begins is a whole different type of movie, and it is a far better adaptation of the source material. Some liberties have been taken, but in comparison to the Burton films, it's just an insane ammount closer to the source. Christian Bale is Bruce Wayne/Batman. Gary Oldman's Gordon was great.
I think I like "Batman Begins" and "Batman ('89)" equally... but for different reasons. They're not really very similar movies at all.
I can't wait for Dark Knight... I hope we get a Joker that can match up with Batman physically... and with Ledger cast, that might be what they're going for.

What didn't I like about Batman Begins....um the fighting was crap. Not the fighting but the camera angles. Batman's first fight, when he takes on the Ninja's towards the end and then his final duel on the train is just chaos. The camera is way too close to the action and you just see a bunch of firsts flying. Theres no way to appreciate the martial arts involved or be excited. It just looks like a big mess...
So really none of the fighting in the movie was good for me...the train thing....meh. Hopefully we can really see some real action in the next one. I've always hated the Scarecrow as a character so that wasn't good either. Looks like 'Dark Knight' is a step in the right direction...

Well if they stay true to the source we know one thing: The Joker will not be defeated untill at least three movies and even then Batman won't kill him...instead he'll capture him send him to Archaum Asylum...where he'll escape over and over and over.I can't wait for Dark Knight... I hope we get a Joker that can match up with Batman physically... and with Ledger cast, that might be what they're going for.
Two Face on the other will catch the shaft like Rahsau Ghoul did, in just one movie.

I agree with Kent in the fact that they can't really be compared to one another fairly.

The camera was done like that for a purpose, to give the effect of a more creature like/ Ghostly figure, instead of just a human in a costume. That was what the whole movie perspective on Batman was about, putting fear into those he fights, and not know what is fighting you would definatly create alot of fear.

So for "the Dark Knight" I want to see the chaotic action when Batman descends on thugs to fucking own them, but good clear action sequences when he fights people for which he needs to employ his full skill... people who are a good match for him.
The lack of sequences where you could see how truly good of a fighter Batman is was one of the parts of the movie that bothered me (another being that there were a few moments of attempted comedy that totally backfired for me... like: "I gotta get me one of those!").

I also read that John Cusack is rumored to be in the running for playing Harvey Dent (wouldn't mind it if it was true).
This is all hearsay though, so don't think it's fact or anything.

Did you mean that he WILL be in the movie, or is rumored to be in the movie?
I put rumored because I can't remember, and I can't be arsed to check it up.
So I don't know... but I remember reading Penguin, plus casting choices, plus the mention that he'd be an armsdealer/mob boss... and that it was at least rumored.
As for Danny DeVito playing a good Penguin I'll have to say what I've already stated about Keaton's Batman... Danny DeVito was great in "Batman Returns" but he was pretty much as far away from the comic book Penguin as was possible with that name...

I actually thought Danny DeVito played quite a good Penguin in returns.
I also liked his performance. It showed a dark Penguin and his life, liked it.
Thats what I also liked about Batman Begins, it seemed to show more of the dark nature of Batman and his past. I hope they have good feel going in the sequel.
As for Heath Ledger, I suppose he could be the Joker....don't know if he'll have that right touch on the whole insane look and behaviour.

Part of it is the script too. Um when he goes to see his parents grave right? He comes back out to the media and has this monolouge thats really comical and stupid. He comes off very annoying when he talks with Catwoman too. It's great for what it is I guess. I would have prefered more of a depressing atmosphere around him. Something to make you feel bad for the guy...but I didn't see that at all.
"True. I was their number one son, and they treated me like number two. But it's human nature, to fear the unusual...even with all their education and privilege...my dad, a district attorney, mother active in the DAR... Perhaps when I held my tiffany baby rattle with a shiny flipper, and not five chubby digits, they freaked."

Thats kinda the idea tho, your supposed to get that he isnt really has helpless as everyone believes he is...Your getting the hints that batman gets when he watches that the penguin isnt a sad orphen but a pshyco mad man who leads the red triangle gang.Part of it is the script too.
