Yeah...what you hear that turned you off about it RKB?

Finally saw it today and thought it was pretty good. Felt like the most action packed Batman movie yet, but the second film is still the best. To be fair though, The Joker is a one of a kind that probably can't be matched. Other then sounding a bit like a James Bond villain, Bane rocks. And I'm not really a big Catwoman fan but she played out well and I enjoyed watching her in action.

I'm not sure I'd say it's the only thing...

According to Bruce in Batman Begins, it is. He refuses to kill for the League of Shadows on these grounds.

Ra's al Ghul: Your enemies will not share your compassion.
Bruce: That's why it's so important.

But obviously in practical terms there's also something like a $50 billion personal fortune separating him from them.

And the fact that he has never done anything that would really be considered bad, except punching a few people in the face.

Well, he beats people half to death, kidnaps people, blows up cars, spies on the entire city etc. He commits criminal acts on a daily basis. It's why the Batman is a controversial figure in this universe, all throughout Begins and TDK there are numerous debates over whether his presence is really something that should be idolised. His morality was so important because it demonstrated his commitment to justice and separated him from the thugs he was disabling and leaving for the police to pick up.

These kinds of themes weren't really explored in TDKR, the only reason anyone dislikes him is because they thought he murdered Dent. I can't really fault it for that though, since they were covered so thoroughly in the previous two instalments.

Shit, I look at this movie more as a prequel to a movie version of The Dark Knight Returns then normal continuity...

I guess that's fair, but I say you should still see man. The rest of the movie might make you want to overlook it.

?

Common criminals beat people up, shoot people, cause criminal damage, stalk and spy on others. Batman takes those acts to their extremes.

Saying Batman's not killing thing is the only thing that separates him from the common criminal is just silly though. You make it sound like he walks down the street stealing old ladies purses and vandalising parking meters. Nothing Batman does in any of the films is really similar to anything common criminals would do, sure if you just say 'beating people up' it might seem that way but you know there's a lot, lot more to it than that.

It´s just strange. In Begins it´s established that Bruce created Batman as a symbol to inspire the people of Gotham. But at the very end of the movie, in the ruins of Wayne Manor Rachel says that Batman isn´t a mask.Wayne is the mask and Batman is the real one. That goes against the end of TDKR.

Yeah man, will get on dvd for sure.I have BB and TDK, why not this?Didn´t let the bit with Ra´s Al ghul at the end of BB ruin the movie for me and the same goes for Batman taking the blame for Den´ts shit, instead of we getting a full blown Two-Face. And truth be told, Batman mythos aside, Nolan´s Batman movies are good blockbusters.Way better the run of the mill shit that comes out(I´m looking at you Ber,Bay,and company...).

I really don't think you can judge an entire film on a ten minute spoiler you saw. I also think it's silly that you've decided not to go see it in the cinema because of that.

I liked it. Unfortunately as I progress through my physics degree I'm much more aware of just how bad the science in films is. It's becoming harder and harder to get past it.

The not thinking about watching on a theater bit, it was already being considered. The only two movies I wanted to see this year weere the Avengers and Prometheus.Unfortunantly didn´t managed to see Prometheus on a theater because of a hectic month. Was thinking about giving this one a chance. But going to watch it knowing what I know?Nah...

Like I said before, Nolan knows his shit, and quality wise the movies are good, and grievances I have with it will probably grow on me with repeat views. But right now I prefer using that money to buy a game or buy the dvd later...

Fair enough. The assumptions you make about the ending of TDKR contradicting the end of BB are ill-founded though, I think. Maybe if you saw the whole thing we'd still disagree, but it just seems like you're making a pretty big judgement based on something you've seen completely out of context.
