Battlefield is probably one of the best military shooters on the PC.

Personally I think that Battlefield 2 is the best, because of the modern weapons, and vehicles. But I dislike the lack of good water vehicles besides the air boat they provided. The maps seem great, and the gameplay was nearly perfect. I loved the addition of the commander feature and of the VOIP chat, which is handy.

Anyway, just discuss the series, maybe post your online screen name, your clan, maybe strategies and ways you like to play maps, or classes.

Anyway Discuss

Does anybody think Bad Company will be able to keep the torch alive on the series? What I mean is, does anybody think it will continue the positive reputation that the series has had so far?

Dunno about that. Anyway the game seems to aim towards a better single player experience.
Unfortunately I was able to play only BF1942. So I played a little with the bots and it was funny seeing my enemies(and allies) stuck on a windshield. Then the multiplayer comes, the Philippines level, crazy match it was. Can't remember the detalis too well, eight people sitting next to a flag point then the one in front of me dies and I look to the left and a swarm of enemies with submachineguns and bazookas started charging in. We were killing the charging team then a jeep hit me. Actually I can't remember after the charging team bit. Only good match so far everything else was well meh.

Wasn't that what 2142 was supposed to be?

Anyone here just watched a mate play Battlefield 2? You'd be surprised at how entertaining it is. Of course actually playing is good and all, but there's this feel of watching a really awesome movie when watching.

My mate, the kinfing bloke i mentioned in the COD4 thread, has the game. he's a sniper in this as well. There's not much else in games that gets you as worked up watching a playthrough, but having the guy lie down and wait, spo somebody, then headshot 'em. That's gold. Especially when they go for ages, maybe switching places a few times unnoticed, and run out of ammo. Running out of ammo is a whle lotta awesome. Or when somebody spots them from afar, but can't shoot at them and decide torun up and get him.

Played them all, including Desert Combat (little story behind this, desert combat was actually a mod created by some geeks, then EA saw the mod and hired them to do BF2142!)

I did enjoy BF2, i had some very fun games.

I probably liked BF2142 the most, i am not sure why though. I really prefer the atmos of it, i'll admit i don't like lots of the vehicles, but i do like the weapons.

The only problem is they keep bring out expansions and i don't wanna pay for it! lol

I may get them tho and begin my gaming on it again, a very good series

Damn, I was hoping that Battlefield: Bad Company would be coming out for the PC. I always wanted a freely destructible world in the game, not the pre-designated bridges they give you in BF2, even though I love to play with them.

Battlefield 2 is an awesome game, the sniping is especially ace, 2 man team with monkeyman, only whenever I get someone in my sights, I hear a tremendous echoing crack from next to me, and the person in my scope crumples before I can shoot XD

For those of us that have Battlefield game(s), could you maybe post your screenname for those other HMF members that also have a Battlefield account, so that you might be contacted into a game or something of the sort?

@dark- It really is, you should try it. Just the amount of classes, and the type of gameplay that it involves it suburb. I think that special ops is probably one of the greater classes in the game, because of the types of weapons it has like C4 and the sniper rifle, it's awesome.

Ah, makes me reminisce back to the days, when Zoo, Vanadis, Scourge of God and I used to rampage across the Battlefield 2 servers as the mighty ZooManGroup. Some of the best online gaming times of my life have been had playing BF2, and in particular I liked the large, open environments, as opposed to games like Day of Defeat where the maps channel you into what can rapidly become a static, tedious, camper's paradise.

Hell, it might be interesting to have like an HMF clan on BF2 or whatever. It would be kinda interesting, but I doubt most people here would get involved in it.

Roger_Stryker - That's the name I've always used, from 1942 to 2142...

I took up the commander role a lot, back when I first got into BF2. I still think I'm one of the only people who uses that role as it should be used... Commander gives his troops intel, and avoids fighting when he can--because you can't give your guys good intel if you're in a firefight, or laying face down, waiting to respawn...

It's been a while since I've played, and I never was all that great at anything. I can't fly(I'm stuck with a piece of shit joystick is the main problem...), I'm not a particularly good sniper, but I've got a brain and I'm capable of doing what has to be done when the time calls for it, especially as a commander. And I'm a fuckin' badass when it comes time to use the pistol. I wield the pistol like it's a freakin' machinepistol... Then again, EA fucked the balance/realism for that--the pistol is like a freakin' laser--no bullet drop that I can tell...I can snipe you with a pistol, but I can't do shit most times with a sniper's rifle... And they royally fucked the SVD, and the M95... M95 should kill with one shot, regardless of the victim's health or where he was hit...and the SVD should have damn near the same exact power as the M24... Semi-auto, yes, but LONGER CASING, MORE POWDER, BITCHES. Stupid EA. Stupid balancing act BS. Americans should've had the M21(M14, semi-auto...) instead of that shitty bolt action... But, yeah--the F-2000, P-90, DAO-12, G-3, and all the Spec-Op's primary weapons are pretty damn good...

I don't play often, but when I do, it's usually along with my father and some of our other buddies. Back when the two of us first got into 1942, we were more or less part of a gaming community called 1stCav, and then the two of us and some other folks split off and formed DAT(Day After Tomorrow), and then recently DAT has basically fallen apart and the few people Pop and I are still on good terms and us have formed GTG(Good Time Gamers)... We used to do formal tournament style clan match play, but ever since DAT fell apart we haven't done that. None of those groups were ever really competition based clans, anyway--more just, ya'know, groups of people who play together, whether they're on the same side or not...

BF'42 was good. Could've been better, but it was alright. BF2 is pretty awesome, but some of the ranks and medals are just 'too far off'... BF2142 pisses me off, with how the unlocks work. You have to unlock HAND GRENADES? The Medic has to unlock his revivial tool?! Fuckin' stupid. Some of the unlock items are awesome, but the majority of them SHOULDN'T BE UNLOCK ITEMS! Fuckin' A, hand grenades oughta be like freakin' standard equipment! As such, I've barely even touched 2142.

You should igve it another go, i think its amazing, and yes unlocking grenades is lame but you can fly through unlocks in 2142, i didn't play that much and unlock one entire kits boths sides, plus all the general ones, and some on the sniper kit, dead easy.

It may seem like its hard to do, but it ain't. Its really worth another shot i think, up to you tho.
