It's a conundrum isn't it? From what I gather (having not read them but from reading reactions on here from those who have) the graphic novels are a lot more about the human interactions and how those would play out in the even of a zombie apocalypse. I suppose the series is like this as well, but only when it suits it. This creates a dichotomy between some episodes with only half of the audience being satisfyied. "Why after all those episodes with action and tension are they sitting on a farm discussing their problems?". The thing is, if The Walking Dead does intend to be more of a drama than a horror/action/whatever series, then it's just not very good drama.

I think that's it's main problem. Plus in general the zombie count in each GN is higher which makes it more exciting.

I’ve been watching Black Books, an excellent British comedy series starring Dylan Moran, Bill Baily and Tamsin Greig. That there’s only 18 episodes is surely a travesty.

Simply enjoy the fact that it wasn't on the air long enough to become anything less than amazing. Check out Dylan Moran's live comedy when you are done (I'm sure he must have some DVDs out), he plays the same whimsical and misanthropic character.

Just discovered Parks and Recreation, it's an absolute hidden gem (if you're from the UK at least). I love everything about it, It has an almost perfect balance of straight men and crazy characters, Also the surreal moments are sparing enough so that when the do happen they work perfectly and make you laugh hysterically, as opposed to a programme that fires off surreal humour every 20 seconds. The diversity of characters is awesome, and it has some of the best 'in' jokes of a comedy that i've seen.

That's precisely where I think it's headed. They need to pay less attention to Lori/Shane and more to the fact that the world didn't end because two dipshits in the group had an affair.

Did anyone watch Spartacus? That last episode was the most exciting one so far.

I need to get around to watching this. Can you compare it to anything currently out there?

It has the structure of The Office, but I've only seen a few episodes of that. Basically, it's a mix of sitcom and implied that it's some kind of documentary.

From what I can tell, it's more lively than The Office and the characters are more colouruful. Then again, I haven't seen much of the first.
The first time I've seen Parks and Rec, I didn't like it very much, now it's one of my favourite things ever. Probably had to do with the fact that i was only watching some random episode the first time and didn't understand much of what's going on.
It also has Ron Swanson in it

Isn't it more liek a mix of The Office but with the humour of Community and/or 30 Rock?

In any case i'm gonna start watching it after i've finished watching the season of It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, it's a shame it isn't on Netflix though.

Mix the premise of the office with the surreal sub-reality of Arrested development.

Ron Swanson is one of the best characters ever.

Over the last two weeks I've managed to watch Dexter, seasons 1-5. Now that's an amazing show. Great characters and story.

Dexter kinda went downhill after season 2 tbh. Still fun, but that magic is gone.

I'd say that the first 3 seasons are the best, the story that continues is still very watchable and brilliantly written. Though, I was completely shocked when
Spoiler
Dexter definitely delivers on powerful finales.
