I'll be player 4.
I like the idea of swapping around players and squads, coz to be honest Marcus is the dullest character in the entire game. For good reason, he's like a talking silent protagonist basically, but it would be fun to play a character in SP who has a bit of a personality.

Also think that both GoW2 trailers are better than this one. Especially the "Rendezvous" one, which was the announcement trailer.

It's at times like these when I wish I had Gears of War 2, I've finished the first one and didn't feel up to getting the second, but with the price tag that it carries now it could take place on my game shelf. I'm interesting in swapping around the teams in the third game because I'm in the same boat as Choked. Marcus is dull. The third game looks set to be a cracker and I really do think that soon I will get and complete the second

I think the most interesting thing this series could do, the most interesting place it could go story-wise, is to have the humans lose. That probably won't happen, because of all the people that would cry "Then what was the point in everything i did in the games" missing totally the point.

I actually think they might kill off all the characters in this, except for Marcus. Perhaps right at the end.

Well, that would depend on how they executed it. If they were all wiped out through some deus ex mahcina battle that just plain fucks over all you just did, then fine, people would be pissed.

If, on the other hand, the story drew the conclusion that the humans were the architects of their own destruction, then it would be a more palletable, if grim, resolution.

If they kill anyone i think Marcus would be the one. Or maybe there is a higher possibly of Dom, he's lost everything he was fighting for, and seems to have lost the will to live (As seen in the trailer when he was quick to give up after he fell), so perhaps he will sacrifice himself. Makes sense from a story point of view, and where he is emotionally.

It would be good to have some sort of Star Wars story imported into the game, something along the lines of Marcus dying in GOW3 only to come back as the enemy in GOW4.

Yeah, this will be the end of Delta squad.
We'll might get some stuff like Halo Wars ( Gears of War Wars?), but probably just different squads and different stories. Marcus was locked up for a long time, and the war was going on during that, and there was the Pendulum wars before then too that could be utilized. Especially since they have put the Pendulum Lancer in this game, we could kick it old school in a Gears of War: Pendulum Wars game, humans vs Humans.

Probably more like Halo : Reach, a prequel to the main game, playing possibly as Adam Fenix? I think that if anyone dies it will be Dom for reasons you outlined or he will be saved by one of his team sacrificing themselves and that will cause him to not just give up his life so easily, giving him a new outlook etc. But I suppose with all we have we can just guess at details, but I have to say I don't agree on Marcus being dull, I think he does exactly what he's suppose to perfectly and I hope they don't change that.

Playing as a scientist in a gruesome cover shooter wouldn't work as well as you might think.

Or maybe a Baird and Cole spin-off.

Face models on both Dom and Cole seem to have been completely reworked. Cole looks like Tyreese Gibson now, of which he bore no resemblance to previously. And Dom doesn't look like himself either, and no it's not just the beard and hair, he looks like a different person.

Apologies Stu, I thought that it was something like Final Fantasy and Half Life where they were going to keep going until everyone get's bored of it. If we know that it's going to be a trilogy then we can have some realistic guesses at what the third game will entail.

Thinking about it, I think maybe the COG structure has sort of fallen apart, without Jacinto as a hub the command may have fallen into disarray and perhaps the Gears are fighting as Stranded. That might explain why Dom has to use the older Pendulum Wars Lancer in the trailer. Also, if you pause the trailer on the face of Dom, you can see it really does just look like him with a beard.

Yeah. They may still be under orders but a Behind-enemy-lines scenario would be a pretty awesome way of opening the game. Or it could just be showing the absolute desperation they're facing now, They're out of guns, out of armor, out of cover, out of razors and some of them even had to trade in their old faces.

I'd be pretty surprised if Gears doesn't get milked further after the trilogy. I say that, but I'd be a sucker for it anyway, and will most likely buy any of their further upcoming games. If it means they improve them, or they try something different, why not.

There are a lot of bits where we don't know what happens, so I think they might target those. And like Choked said, I think they might even do a Cole & Baird spin off.

Some more info on the story:

- The Locust haven't been seen since the end of Gears of War 2.
- Coalition has been disbanded and everyone is now stranded (which is probably why Anya is fighting alongside the other characters.)

Can't say if they're 100% confirmed, but they are on the official Gears forum which has a load of other info from the devs.
