Hey it's a worthwhile investment! Michael McWhetor (SP I know) at Kotaku has played 80 hours and not finished yet!
I've pre-ordered at Game and went to pre-order at HMV in case Game try some bullshit like charging £50 when they definitely shouldn't be), but the HMV guy said they are only getting the Limited Edition versions in. Good times.
And fuck no I don't care about having a tin. The only thing I physically wanted was the artbook; but even if that had been digital I wouldn't care as I'm not getting charged extra.
Some really self entitled douches are talking about cancelling their pre-orders over this "switch and bait" "misleading bs". Ugh. I agree they could have cleared the alteration and differences between versions better but they aren't charging extra so you've got nothing to moan about.
Edit: having looked at classes a bit closer I'm either just going to go knight and invest in magic, Pyromancer and invest in combat.....or go Deprived....
Edit 2: Friend Sent me a pro-tip: "Attack the tails if bosses that have them. Prizes for you"

Darkness covers all I see and touch, No feeling of pain just sorrow. My hand loses grip of the sword I hold, And I turn to become a true shadow.
I'm not bothered per se about the loss of the nexus, and I'm sure the development team have more than compensated for the lack of it. But I did really enjoy having this little safe zone I could go back to and talk to NPC's etc. I am however a bit worried that the bonfire taking over all these tasks will take away a bit of atmosphere/ immersion from the game. Like how they got rid of towns in the final fantasy series, and had it all replaced by this multifunctional vending machine.
Also as far as we know this game exists in a separate universe from Demon Souls, which is a little bit of a shame as the lore of Demon Souls truly did grip and fascinate me, It's a shame that we will gain no futher insight into the monumentals, the fabric of reality, the soul arts, and the old one.
From what I can tell the majority of NPC's you rescue gather at the first bonfire you get to outside of the tutorial area.
I have to imagine at some point there's a way to travel between bonfires. Agree that it loses done of it's immersion/atmosphere potentially: but the feeling of loneliness must be huge

I think you can teleport from bonfire to bonfire free of charge, not 100% on that though. Yeh I guess the first bonfire will have little differences from the nexus overall.
I'm probably going to get it from tesco at midnight cuz i'll be going past there at that time anyway to pick up my mate. I was wondering if we should have a separate thread for strategy/support, because it will be full of spoilers and they'll be a lot of cross topics if such discussion stays in here.
Damnit I want this game, but no way I can afford it day of release, and by the time I can afford it everyone will be much further ahead than me. :/

I am exciting for the upcoming of the BF3. Hope that they will release as early as now. I ONLY NOW GOOGLE AND YAHOO get the fuck off the child molester
I'm sure a liberal use of spoiler tags will suffice. I'm going to see if I can pick it up on Saturday evening, then play all Sunday instead of doing the work that needs doing for Monday.
And it's not a very spoilerific post at all, I don't even think he reveals anything other than its name and attacks. It's just a very awesome (and unorthodox) way in which he managed to beat it.
wow it is a good read, I really don't think i'll be bothered to do that on a first playthrough. There's nothing like knowing all a bosses moves and when they are coming, and having an insanely epic battle of Massive Damage to you vs chip damage and crazy dodging.
On a side note, just curious as to how many people here regularly visit Giant Bomb? I'm a huge fan of their stuff, especially the Bombcast and Thursday Night Throwdown.

I don't as their mobile site try's to take over when I visit it and when I say I want the full site it takes me to the front page not where I was linked to -,-
I think we should just add "spoilers" in the thread title then use spoiler tags. I love the expanding spoiler tags here.
Have any Yanks picked it up yet? How many pages is the guide?
@Guz: let Me know asap how many pages the guide is!

I find their reviews and Quick Look videos to be excellent. I can never get their bombcasts to work though, which annoys me because I find them to be really funny guys who obviously know their stuff.
Play for much too long last night, time melts away whilst playing this game.
Played as a wanderer, the game is tough, that's for sure, but amazingly fun. The new moves come into use really well. When you have have no humanity your character has a zombie like appearance, which sucks (but is awesome) because at the moment I don't come across humanity that often, and when I die I lose 1 humanity point and go back to being a zombie. But humanity can be picked up off random badguys, so perhaps I just need to farm.
The key is to take it steady, just slowly clear your way through. However there are a lot of turns and room that you shouldn't go to yet, for the enemies there will 1hko you and you will do like 2 damage to them, these places are a lot more common that in DS.
Enemies will now chase you a lot further than they would before, so If you are pussying out of a fight (happens often if you run into a big boy) make sure you run back over ground you've covered, ladders will not help you either now as enemies can climb them.
A top tip would be that always prioritise opening up shortcuts for if you die, if a tip says there is a shortcut ahead, try to take that route and activate that shortcut so you can get back to the point you're at quicker.
Some cool things of note: (very minor spoilers)
Spoiler
Entered a tight corridor and was confronted by a dredgling grunt, raised my shield in anticipation of his attack, then my counter attack, but instead he began to run from me. So with my shield Up i edged closer to him, then he turned and fled again refusing to engage me. So i lost my patience and charged him, he further retreated into the middle of a room, it was there I had sealed my fate. 4 other dregdlings who had been waiting in ambush in the corners of the room sprang on my from all sides, even the bait dredgling began to fight, they tore me to shreads.
Had opened a portcullis as a shortcut, after a death I went to use it to save time getting back to where I died, when I got close and enemy began legging it toward the portcullis, I knew he was going to try and close it. I legged it after him and had to roll to make it underneath before it slammed shut, and enemy behind me got caught by it closing and was instantly killed. I managed to kill the grunt and reopen the shortcut.
Just picked mine up. The art book is wonderful, and glad to see the soundtrack and making of are physical things (the way they're slotted into the art book is cool)
I'm a bit puzzled though as the game had a card in it with codes to then download the "mini-guide" (and soundtrack/making of). I thought we were getting the full guide
It doesn't really matter though, I just wanted to print it and have it sitting somewhere and the artbook plus 2 additional discs for no extra cost is well worth it.
Can't wait til works over!
Anyone checked the guide out yet?
