I don't think many Hitman fans would disagree that the biggest problem for the series has always been the simplistic, trigger happy, telepathic, broken AI. Personally, I didn't think they could ever really get it to the level it needed to be at for it to be really immersive. I've been looking through early impressions of the demo and it looks like IO have really outdone themselves with an AI that goes well beyond what I expected. It looks like the AI is really aware of alot of contextual factors. Example: The police were raiding an apartment door by door, and 47 had impersonated a cop, a squad of police were in the apartment hallway and 47 was walking away from them, and one policeman asked another why 47 was going the wrong away alone.

That genuinely impressed me, I didn't expect the AI to even come close to being able to recognize something like that.

You're right. From what I've heard so far, the AI is much better than I would have expected. I think it's great that the AI are no longer (so it seems) completely oblivious, and that they don't randomly shoot someone acting slightly out of the ordinary. The part of being able to interact with environments to stay in character seems great. (would have worked well in "Flatline" where one of the oderlies in the office is continually using the coffee machine.

Wow, never heard of that. Would you mind telling me from which preview is that?
The AI seems to be very realistic now. If you are in a cop outift, people will actually treat you like a cop. So criminals will hide their drugs, other cops will ask you thing s like that. Then there's the cover blowing thing: previously the NPCs just stared at you, your cover was blown, the NPC started shooting and every single other NPC knew what was going on immediately. But now there will actually be a conversation: Cop: "Didn't you quit a few years ago?" 47: "Never left." Now that's just unbelievably awesome. I wonder if there's a conversation like that always when your cover is about to be blown. And will there be dozens of different conversations depending on who's asking and what is 47 disguised as... I hope it's not scripted, like I fear.

When you kill for money, there are no rules.

The Small fixes thread. IOI employees and Hitman developers, please take a look at the thread. At the moment there are about 80 small or smallish things that the fans would like to see improved. Many would improve gameplay and shouldn't be too difficult to fix before Absolution is released.

Took a bit of digging through my history XD

In fact, reading it again it says that 47 actually physically reacted to the suspicion by lowering his cap. That is cool.

Black glasses, how could it NOT be scripted?

About disguises and suspicion: I hope the NPCs have more states than like 0 - neutral, 1 - alert and killing everyone. In Blood Money they're less hostile but they're also too easy to fool and play with.
Another thing is that you should always be treated equally with other NPCs until you caused trouble. The player should be treated like any other cop, civilian or worker while he is disguised. I also don't feel it's believable that everyone else but you can walk through locked doors and frisk points.

I think we will finally get good AI. This sounds really promising and certain people are overlooking the FACT, that the AI shapes Hitman in a certain way so the way the AI reacts to you is VERY, VERY IMPORTANT in Hitman. And it looks like Absolution may finally get good AI.

From the previews, it looks like the game will be more intense becuase of the AI and the way they react so this is a HUGE plus point in a positive way.

Anyway, waiting to see/read more on this because it looks interesting. Really, interesting.

Its a scripted conversation, no doubt, but the level of contextual interaction and how well the AI reacts to it is really awesome.

I think it is . But it sounds better then Blood Money. But never picture yourself a perfect AI, because it would never exist xD

I wonder if there's gonna be options on 47's response like

Random cop says: Didn't you quit a few years ago?

You...
[I never left.]
[I think you're mistaking me for someone else.]
[Do I know you?] (annoyed tone)
[<Say nothing>]

On a side note, I think the "I never left" quote is actually a statement to the Hitman fans, implying that he never quit his journey. :)

Yeah, I just got that. :P "Didn't you quit a few years ago?" (Hiatus since Blood Money), "I never left" (stating that he's been active).

That little conversation between the cop and 47 should be in the TV trailer

I am bemused by the number of people here and elsewhere saying the AI is bull**** this or that.

The point is simple. IMPROVEMENT.

By the looks of it. it has improved leaps and bound.

I think this will be the best HITMAN game out of all the five.

We should be happy that it wasnt the shitty kane and lynch 3

"At the next Hitman game coming, they tried a person in charge with passion and balls to rethink (Not me), but alas he was removed and K & L management has taken over. It does not bode well for IO and Hitman's future." -- Former IOI employee "Voodooman"

I got pretty amazed soon as I read this. I did have opinions of the game before, but I the whole NPC reaction thing, damn thats good, its liek an addedd bonus for me although its not something I clearly wanted to begin with. Im really curious about the interactions, especially how 47 reacts to everyone around them.

I read that someone, well a commentor said that a guard asked 'Didnt you quit a few years ago?' and 47 responding 'Never left'.
I find that really interesting for me to see that. Im unsure of everyone else here. Im unsure how closely IO worked on it with the interaction, but actually, when someone asks you a question, its simply a question that they want to find out. Even if they dont appear to be. Something as what the guard asked.
However, 47 said something really small, but its pretty clever to those who understand it, but he basically pretty much closed off the conversation with a one liner that closes off more communication from occuring. No one really wants to come across something that doesnt interest them. So it just suits to me that he probably closed off interaction to the guards or basically preventing them from getting closely accustomed to him from doing something else since he was a cop, although the rest of the guards werent aware of that.

I also read that someone else, who seen the gameplay didnt understand 47's words. Im guessing that maybe they were expecting a finale or anything of that sort. I can guess, but ill find out myself soon as it comes out. The demo of course.

Although Im really curious on how the chemistry went down and the tone of voice by both 47 and the guard. Im unsure if he asked out of curiousity or suspicion, it would haved said more.

HMF is awesome like a Power Rangers introduction, but sometimes it needs some Sesame Street like manners.
