Hey guys,

after talking with Dave Bateson again in an email, he specifically stated that he does NOT want any communications posted publicly (such as here).

I'm going to go and delete the references I had made, and I hope the rest of you do the same. Let's comply with his wishes.

I had posted an email originally before getting permission, I should have waited.

It also sounds like he is unaware that people here have been posting his private emails. He doesn't want that.

To quote him a tiny bit "hold your fire".

If we're really his fans we need to.

I'm surprised that he wasn't aware of it, but I respect that. I think people share emails like that simply because of their "fan" status; in a way they're speaking for all of the Hitman fans. We're all in the same boat, and we all wish him the best. Thanks for letting everyone know though, I will certainly uphold that request.

Good work Swartz. I got a queasy feeling in my tummy whenever I saw those e-mails posted.

Anyone who posted private e-mails from David or Vivienne-- or quoted them-- should remove them. Maybe report any other posts you see and moderators can edit them if the authors are "AFK".

I have to say, I'm a little surprised by that (perhaps he's still holding out hope for reconciliation with IO and doesn't want to inadvertently burn any bridges?), but certainly, let's respect his wishes and do as he asks.

Quoted for a reason.

If we want him to have any chance we can help him by spreading around the petition, but posting emails is not what he wants.

Hitmanforum.com endorses this message. Please be aware that private communication is rarely intended for public display and that such messages can be taken out of context.

I will be doing a sweep later for quoted emails etc but certainly request members remove them themselves via the Edit button whenever possible.

Sounds reasonable. Especially now days. A lot of fans around here remind me of the crowds outside of the stores, minutes away before they open and release the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Maybe IOI asked him to do that in order to make all this 'no bateson - I won't buy the game' talking stop. Because sincerely he didn't write anything useful in those emails anyway

It's a conspiracy!

Or maybe he just doesn't want to worry about personal exchanges he sends from his iPhone on the bus or train becoming public comments for everyone, including IOI, to scrutinize.

Fair enough. I can understand that, besides.. we got the message out. Bateson know the fans care, and IOI know that we know how they treated him and what we think about the whole thing. That should be enough.

Would I seriously need to post the email where he says not to post emails, thereby already screwing up what he asked, in order to show why?

It's not because he wants people to quit complaining, and it's not because IO told him to.

He doesn't want to burn any bridges. He's a good guy. I didn't tell him that alot of emails from him have already been posted. I don't think he would've been happy if I had told him about it. He made it clear enough though that he doesn't want people doing that.

Also, let's face it: anyone who just heard the audio from the demo in that other thread can tell that Bateson now has one hell of a good shot at replacing whoever that other dude was, as I doubt they'd sell a single game with that voice actor. He doesn't even sound old enough for the part.

I sneak my ass into IOI offices, take everyone hostage and now when I'm about to start executing them one-by-one for what they've done Bateson tells me to hold my fire? Damn.

If you guy want to keep the hope of having David Bateson back in Hitman, you should do what Swartz (and Bateson) said.

Making a scandal would definitely ruin the already odd Bateson-IOI relation ship...

Bateson is basically the captain in the boat and you should do what he says and thinks about it.

Arrr I say Bateson be the bosun and the fans be the captain! If companies listened to the fans more then they would create better games. I don't think IO are listening to the fans considering the recent demo and E3 talk.

That said, I totally agree you shouldn't post anyone's personal emails whether they be David Bateson's or anyone else. Why would anyone betray a personal trust like that anyway? Its the ultimate in disrespect.

Unstickyfying this thread and adding a link (to here) in the other sticky thread - David Bateson, fan creations, and YOU.

I still can't believe that and it feels like I'm being trolled by IOI...

I mean seriously...a fucking underaged American voice actor? Get the fuck outta here
