I would stop worrying about the voice, and start focusing on the rest of the audio (and hopefully the video footage, when it comes out) just to see if we can get to decode something, get some new info.
PS: How can I make my profile pic visible? I've been trying but it doesn't go o n display.

Well, I guess for some it is, but as I said I like the new voice and (no offense) find Bateson a little shy of 47s seriousness. Anyway, I want to stay out of the controversial side of the argument; what I mean is that IO isn't probably going to change the voice, and besides 47 doesn't even speak that much. Add that to the fact that the new voice is obscure, as 47 is, and I don't think we have much of a great deal here. I would be more concerned if the gameplay mechanics didn't work out or if the AI was clumsy...

I can see this game bombing if that actors voice is used in the final version of Absolution. The rest of the game may be good but without the iconic voice that David Bateson provides it will just feel like another generic game that I will have zero affinity with.

That means I probably won't be buying it...

I am going to continue to worry as the NEW 47 sounds like a 13 year old teenager.

Holy cow I read all the posts before listening and figured y'all were overreacting.. but WTF!!?? His voice is way too high and sounds way too young to be 47. Doesn't even feel like the same guy. terrible.

47 doesn't even speak that much.

Even if the three words we've now heard were the only ones he says in the entire game, it would still make a difference. Bateson IS 47 and that's something that can't be changed just like that.

WTF is this ? omg i cant believe what i just heard !!! what is that inception music with batman voice actor !!?? where is the opera/orchestra music and bateson's voice ? This game is a reboot to the franchise, people that "still" living in denial open your eyes and stop making assumptions to justify how bad this game is. Dammit we waited 6 years for this, omg i hope they didn't announce it ...

Guys, deal with it. Agent 47 is now a young American man, Diana has had a sip from the fountain of youth and the Hitman soundtrack has been copied from a Jason Bourne movie. I think IO did the right thing here. This is pretty badass, much like the trailer where 47 is tearing apart that house, just like the real one would do! I'm very excited. FINALLY, we get some Hollywood feel into a HITMAN game!

Agreed, a man with not many words should have a distinct voice that speaks for itself.

HMF is awesome like a Power Rangers introduction, but sometimes it needs some Sesame Street like manners.

That was a terrible voice, they actually replaced Bateson for this?? Seriously what the hell are they thinking? Why would they purposely choose another bland generic gruff voice, it's fucking horrible.

Why wasn't this the first thing people mentioned when they saw the demo for themselves? It sticks out straight away. Absolute shit

I am sorta wondering why Ampburner and Kent didn't notice the drastically different voice. Perhaps they heard different audio?

He sounds like a little kid trying to act tough, that is NOT Hollywood. That's just a piss poor decision.

You don't make a game more cinematic by casting some little kid to play your main character. They really need to get a grip

It's not just the voice. The accent is also terribly American-centric. I mean, why would a Romanian-born assassin who lived most of his life outside the US adopt an American accent? The great thing about Bateson is that his 47 voice, I mean sorry NO NO, the great thing is that 47's voice is non-regional and is what you would expect a person like him to sound like.

Are we all listening to the same audio here? He doesn't sound like a little kid to me. Though he does sound like Christian Bale.

It most likely is Mark Sloan. I just googled and he has talked about the game and how he did motion-capture for it.

So yeah, there we go. Bateson was replaced by some Hollywood b-list actor, as everyone else.

I am sorta wondering why Ampburner and Kent didn't notice the drastically different voice. Perhaps they heard different audio?

IOI probably had them both at gunpoint "You better not tell anyone about this."
But yeah, honestly, I wouldn't have told anything about different voice actor neither if I had been invited to watch the demo.

Maybe one of the reasons to use a new voice actor is because they want to use the same actor in the upcoming Hitman 2 movie

@Mistah47: Got a link to Sloan talking about things?

@Swartz: Lack of attention + optimistic thinking. It's not like they had a reason to suspect anything back then and overall they seemed to like what they saw.
