I just hope that IO will see what the fan's are saying and will make the right decision to have David come back because if they don't all I can say is another Kane and Lynch game. Sad but it will be most likely be true. So IO if you want the Hitman game to stay how it was made so well in the past then listen to you're fan's.

What are you, 10? You think IO and Square Enix will listen to a couple of fans? This is the real world pal, companies listen to money. Hollywood and America is where the money is at, and that's exactly where IO is going with this title.

I agree that changing the original voice pisses many people off. I've just listened to Bateson's voice and I must say he doesn't sound as robotic as I remembered it. I certainly don't know, I like both, I think the optimum would be someone in between (imagine this was totally new and we didn't know neither Betason nor "Bateman". I'll just go with what they do.

Seriously, is there anything to be optimistic about? I never thought I'd give up on this series but they have successfully managed to push me to that point.

- Every level can be completed with only killing the target, and that can be done to look like an accident
- There's and entire team dedicated on working for the hardcore parts on IO
- check my signature
- it won't be released in a year, everything and anything could change
- new ways of fooling the NPC's: e.g. pulling your collar up, eating donuts
- 47 actually imitates the person who's clothes he stole; the walking style, maybe even talking style
- different NPC's react appropriately to the costume you're wearing
- 47 still has his suit
- better AI
- the developer isn't Ubisoft
- anything could happen with Bateson; maybe they are negotiating of a contract right now
- really good graphics

Well there's some reasons why to be excited. I'm still a bit sceptic myself.

When you kill for money, there are no rules.

The Small fixes thread. IOI employees and Hitman developers, please take a look at the thread. At the moment there are about 80 small or smallish things that the fans would like to see improved. Many would improve gameplay and shouldn't be too difficult to fix before Absolution is released.

Remember that leaked statement from a laid off IO employee from a long while back where he told us we should be worried about the direction they're taking the game?

We should have paid more attention to that.

But the weird thing is that this is not the smartest choice even from a business point of view. And businesses do make poor decisions. Look at Nintendo's Virtual Boy, or any of the hundreds (if not thousands) of Hollywood box office flops.

To clarify: The person voicing 47 is NOT Eric Dane who plays Mark Sloan in some TV-show, the person in question is this Mark Sloan. Which, indeed, is pretty damn confusing seeing how similar they sound (judging by the demo audio and the video posted in this thread).

Now I solved it. 47 will be voiced by Vin Diesel! They didn't think one movie-game-tie-in series was enough for him, so they made another one!

But seriously, if they want a "big Hollywood name", then they are going to need A BIG HOLLYWOOD NAME to get attention. Who do you think will buy the game/watch the movie? The same people who watch... apparently Grey's Anatomy?
The thing is, Michael Ironside isn't a big Hollywood name (anymore). Still he is an iconic voice to an iconic character. Then there's the guy who voices Snake in Metal Gear Solid. I don't think he's a superstar either. But the voices work with the characters. I hope Square Enix understands this. IO isn't so stupid they would replace Bateson.

If anyone visits the somethingawful.com forums, I suggest checking out the thread there on Absolution. We're all laughing at how retarded this guy sounds and some good quotes are coming up.
Here's my personal favorite:

I feel like this entire thread has battered-wife syndrome. Shitty news keeps coming out, but every now and than a little sliver of hope. Oh, the devs did this, its so nice, they aren't forgetting us! They really care about us guys, I swear. They even told us to not worry about all the new shit. Than we find out the voice actor is Mark Sloan and they blew off the two people who helped make this franchise what it is, while seeming to abandon the core gameplay for something much more splinter celly.

But, it'll be alright.... I promise baby...one more chance.

A couple other reactions to the news:

I never base opinions on teasers and rumors. That said, there's not a snowflake's chance in hell that Hitman 5 will not be absolute shit.

hahahahaha fuck the world.

Well, at least the voice actor isn't quite as bad as Timothy Olyphant, but on that note, it really sounds like what they did was try to find somebody who sounded like Timothy Olyphant trying to sound tough.

So now we've got Wild Bill and somebody trying to imitate Seth Bullock. Wonderful.

At this point some of us have given up and are talking about Manhunt instead.

@scourged: I can't remember how far back it was, but I remember Nick replied with something along the lines of "he didn't know anything about what goes on around here", or something like that. Searching Nick's post history would probably bring it up.

Everyone hates his voice, and out there we have Bateson - and they ignoring the man.

Please IOI, listen to the fans. You have to understand, it is not just the casual Hitman fan who hates the fact Bateson is not there anymore, it's everyone!

You have a legendary voice which fits perfectly, but you choose to fire the man instead? Don't ruin the game. Do the right thing while you still can.

For me the game will be French localised so I won't fell the difference.

LOL Get me a copy of the French game. Or in literally any other language with any other actor.

I hope David Bateson sees this thread and has a good laugh over it. A nice, hearty, deep-voiced laugh.

Something doesn't smell right about all this. Since the voice in the demo sounds like Mark Sloan and there were reports from 2009 that he was doing the motion capture for the game, it's probably him. However, we also know that David Bateson was asked to audition for 47 (and told that he had the job) in the same year. Why would they go to the trouble of holding an audition for a role when they've already decided on who it's going to? Here's what I think happened: they had Mark Sloan do all the motion capture and voice work at the same time because their new motion capture techniques integrate the two, Uncharted-style; however, they never necessarily intended to use his voice in the final game. If they did, they wouldn't have brought in David Bateson (and possibly other people) to audition, because why spend the time and money if the role is taken? It could very well be that the voice they're using in the game currently is just a placeholder that they have handy from the motion capture sessions. This doesn't mean that they're going to use David Bateson after all, necessarily, but I think it does mean that it's not going to be Mark Sloan.
