I seriously don't understand the logic behind destroying the place in which you live, for any reason.

Bunch of mindless idiots, destroying their own neighbourhoods. I just can't comprehend the mentality of these retards.
I don't think it's quite that simple.
Aren't those neighborhoods (Tottenham, right?) amongst the poorest of the region, while other nearby regions are vastly richer in comparison? London is preparing for the Olympics, but I reckon not all regions see the financial benefits of all these Olympics-related investments. There's probably a ton of youth unemployment, these are empoverished 'hoods full of (illegal?) immigrants, for one. I guess these kids have nothing better to do than to drink beer and to shoot drugs all day - due to the lack of social activities and jobs (in general). They aren't just looting "for the heck of it", but it is a clear signal of social malcontent. This looting, stealing and arson isn't a result of boredom and/or "being retarded" - but the result of a social system that doesn't treat everybody equal.

No, that's no excuse for the level of violence & vandalism that we've seen over the past few nights. Yes, the main areas affected are amongst the poorest in London but by that measure you could argue that all unsociable behaviour is casued by underlying issues of poverty & economic inequality.
There isn't a social system or goverment in the world that treats everybody equally & fairly -that's a fact of life. It doesn't make it acceptable to take to the streets in this fashion.
This now is just pure opportunism by gangs of kids (from all ethnical & religious backgrounds btw.) The original incident was sparked by the police shooting of a local Tottenham man, however it has now gone way beyond that -The Liverpool & Birmingham incidents are purely copycat.

They have been pushing people of motorbikes and regular bikes, stealing peoples wallets, rings and phones in the street and apparently three guys tried to kill a policeman last night, if it goes on any further real innocent people are going to die or get seriously hurt.
With the Tory government being in charge and making so many awful cuts that seriously effect the poor and make the rich even richer, this was going to happen sooner or later, I didn't expect it to be this stupid though.
Peace out brothers.
