Third, I have a few problems concerning Instinct . Now, I know it should give an idea of the surrounding environment, and be used to get information about enemies, but still, there should be a limit to it's range. It did make sense here as the library area was huge and open, but it shouldn't allow seeing through lots of walls, or a long distance. Also, the slow motion while using Instinct was kind of annoying.
There should be some sort of range, in the demo you could pretty much see all NPCs with Instinct many rooms away. Okay, Instinct is based on 47's senses, but let's be reasonable, he can't sense someone
that far. Knowing there is an NPC so far away from you has little impact on your next moves. A good solution could be simply adding a blur/distortion to the NPCs the further they appear while using Instinct. It seems there’s no real graphical depth with Instinct vision as there is in the in-game environment.
And when it comes to the slow-mo whenever some sort of action is undertaken: 47 breaks an NPC's neck, slow-mo turns on. 47 uses Instinct, so-mo turns on. While it adds to the cinematic atmosphere, it can get annoying and a bit distracting. I think there's enough cinematic tension with the music, adding slow-mo may look good at first, but imagine playing through a level for the 10th time. Also, after taking a look at the Instinct meter, it's strange that probably the most 'powerful' ability, when 47 sees NPC's through walls, their paths and areas of interest uses very little Instinct, when simply having 47 walk by and hide his face in front of some police officers uses a lot. It's a bit disproportional.
The minimap looked useless...
I was interested to find it's not really a map at all. It's more of an NPC radar. Most of the NPC's on it you can see with your bare eyes anyway or when you use Instinct. Although I would prefer using it to know where NPCs are rather than turning on Instinct. But it depends on the situation.
I want a stealth video of a level next. Here's hoping..
I'm with you there. Let's see something at least related to that classic stealth gameplay that defined the series, a screenshot with 47 and his fibre wire perhaps?
