What an announcement! Really looking forward to this game even though there is no footage yet, there was some mention of GTAV being made for the next gen consoles though as in the Xbox 720 or the PlayStation 4 and this could still happen given that the 720 is rumoured to be announced at the next E3 show... it will be an interesting one to spectulate seeing how large the game world GTA will have.

I just hope it's more like RDR and you can ride horses around Los Angeles.

Hope it's a female one, that'd make playing dress ups and looking at their rear end for half the game much more fun.

Dunno if I'd prefer it to be Vice City or San Andreas though, both are awesome in their own way. Vice City with some swamps would be especially cool.

I don't think they would come up with a new setting just yet, as the old cities still have a ton of potential.

Fuck yes. Good news. San Andreas was simply amazing. A modern game set in that area and in the game gangsta style would be ace. Or maybe London or somewhere like Rotterdam instead?

Rockstar always advertise their stuff like a year in advance. I suspect we won't get this until October next year. Although I got my fingers crossed for May, but that's just blind optimism. XD

They could and developers usually do. Of course it could take less than a year, but Q1 2012 is just naive.

I could never feel immersed in any game with a female protagonist.

Bet it's a mexican guy if it's set in SA, or cuban if Vice City. Packie is traveling to SA as well so might be irish as well. Shame, cause i'm really getting tired of all the accents all the time. Doubt it's outside US considering the art on the site is pretty much the design from the american dollar.

Why are people still expecting this to be set in a real city?(Not here spcifically, but everywhere you'll find people saying "i hope its Vegas" "I hope it's Miami") What has ever given you the idea that GTA will be set in a real city?

Rockstar will set it in one of their already established cities because it creates more freedom for them. Free roaming in a real city is fucking boring, it's always been boring and it has never worked. LA Noire, The Getaway, True crime. The only time it really worked was in the Driver games, but they used to set it in many cities and it was never about the city or interacting with it so it didn't matter, it's a very different game than GTA. Real cities just aren't interesting enough.

I think when they say what city they want they mean Rockstars take on it like Vice City/Miami. They can't really use a name for a fictional city that they don't know yet so they just say a city they want it based on. Plus the LA Noire thing is kinda true but I think that was more down to the freeroam being lame not the city itself.
