By this I mean, will the new Hitman game make the targets aware that they have somebody after them, and inevitably have it so there's a confrontation right before every kill? When this happened in Assassin's Creed II, I was thoroughly disappointed at the fact that every kill I performed seemed to be incredibly linear. I wanted to silently kill and walk out, but I never got that. Anybody have any idea if this will be the case?

I don't think this would be the case in Absolution. THe case in Assasin Creed2 if I remember correctly is that it's a fairly large open city, and when you get a new mission scripted sequences takes place, those sequences is linear so the kids can have fun, so Assasin creed is more a game for jumping and climbing then stealth. The game has another concept to it sort of speak.

Hitman is not Assassin's Creed and I highly doubt that they will turn assassinations into linear events, the pure fact is that there is always more than one way to kill the target.

Assassin's Creed was never a actual 'stealth' game. yes, there are stealth elements like sneaking and climbing and such.

But 90% of the time you stab a target, get into a huge swordfight, then run like a ninja out of there.

I can't bear the thought of 47 killing a guy in 1 scripted sequence and then sprinting out of whatever location he was in. The exit is always as stealthy as the entry, if not more smooth.

2 different games. waste of a thread. And to say AC made a mistake is inaccurate too because that is how the game was designed to be played. The key to that game was the combat mechanics. So the game is constantly pushed toward combat. Absolution brags being able to achieve silent assassin rating so that means combat can be avoided in every level in the game.

EDIT: Asterix beat me to it. I feel the same way

Have you seen the "silent assassination" videos for the first Assassin's Creed? In that game you didn't need to run away, if you were good. That's why I was disappointed in the second one.

I haven't played the first game in a while, but if I recall correctly stealth was not very abundant in there. I am playing Revelations at the moment to supplement my deprivation from the beloved Death to Spies series :( and that game has a slightly stronger emphasis on steatlh... but it is still entirely a swords-and-swashbuckler game.

btw, may I have a URL to these 'stealth assassination' videos? I assume its under 1 YouTube channel or playlist.

What disappoints me is that on every kill the guards are alerted. Still this is a Hitman forum, so let's just hope they don't do the same as AC. :P

In my opinion the two biggest flaws of Assassins Creed were:

1. Absurd dependence upon and requirements for mini-games to pad out the length and justify the massive maps
2. Four hour monologues after every assassination

Since Hitman has never mini-games or talking dead people... I think we're safe on those counts.

All the developers so far have indicated that they are making the levels to accomodate a variety of playing styles, and traditionally the only level that's been linear in a Hitman game is the finale level (Meet Your Brother, Requiem, etc) so I think we'll be safe on your more specific concern.

The developers have pointed out this flaw as something they have improved in Absolution. All guards won't suddenly become alerted because one guard found a dead body, information like this will pass on gradually (i.e. via police radio).

just about the only bright side of the game i guess, in SA during the Japanese castle mission, the guards were paranoid as fuck:

" show me your ID Posted Image.............*stand still*

BONJARU VAY!!

(

THE GUARDS HAVE BEEN ALERTED

)*starts running* YAMEE YAMEE!!!!!....................." all hell breaks loose!!!!!

Hitman never had good AI. NO, SA Does NOT have better AI than BM or vice versa. Point is, the AI always sucked. That Japan reference above is hilarious . Good one. :)

As for Hitman and AC. Both are different games as the others have said and both are aiming for something totally different. Not to mention that they both have different approach to things or missions. So no, Hitman won't make the same mistake as AC (as you call it) because Hitman is totally different.

Too radically different games. AC's sandbox world and Sci-Fi/Historical tale of conspiracy is almost completely different from 47's adventures. So no, it won't. But there is still room for mistakes, just not the one your implying.

It won't happen.
As Jardos said, Hitman is about non-linear assassinations. Assassin's Creed was more about getting to a single person by following a linear path. Also, you could earn upgrades by doing mini quests in a city/large area/many areas joined by a network.
Since Hitman:Absolution won't have free exploration of the sort of Assassin's Creed, and it will have distinct levels, there is no reason at all to think that it will end up like Assassin's Creed, or commit the mistakes of Assassin's Creed.

I don't need to explain how awful the AI is in Silent Assassin. There are many people who said that BM's AI sucked. But my point is that SA's AI is no better.

Seriously, the Japan levels were the most bugged missions of all time and the overall AI behaviour in SA is stupid and very paranoid to a point of unrealistic where they can see through a mask. lol. But anyway, my point is that the AI is bad in every Hitman game. There's no AI better than the other in Hitman.

Let's hope Absolution sorts this out.
