this is what travis told me :

======================================
Hi Hasan,

Thanks for the mail!

We’ve seen many magazines and websites publish an estimate of the release date and Game Informer are just the latest ones to do that.

As we say in our official FAQ, until you hear anything more specific than 2012 from IO, don’t believe it.

Whether it comes out in the summer/winter/2013 or not, I can't wait to play it. When the people finally have the game in their hands, they will realize that most of their complaints were unwarranted. Total speculation around here :(

Looking at how badly Eidos + Square Enix is doing at the moment (no pun intended) they have to release the game June-August.

Cuz by god, if they dont and try to fight the heavyweight before christmas period. they are not even going to hit a million mark.

This would be ideal IMHO, otherwise they would be feeling the pressure of the hard hitters of fall.

i was checking play.com, and it says that Hitman Absolution is due for release on 25 September 2012.

I know there are no official information backing this up, but what do you guys think could it be possible for a release around September?

That's my birthday. Not bad IO.

September seems posible though. A winther release would be stupid with the big titles comming out there.

September is a very likely release date (I predicted it before! :P ). It is good for IO also as only F1 2012, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2 are the main games coming out on September. If they venture into October, they will have to go against AC3 and no offence, but AC3 will crush Hitman (in terms of sales).

AC3 will yes. But in the future the Hitman franchise might grow as big or even biggere compared to Assassins Creed. Hitman really has the potential, and with the new studio it might well also becomes a mass production franchise like AC.

And besides. Assassin Creed fucking suck compared to Hitman.

And this is supposed to be a good thing? I'd rather have IO (and their affiliated studios) churn out a Hitman game every 3 years or so and deliver quality. Instead of following AC's lead and releasing a title every year and remaining subpar. I value quality over quantity.

Well me to? And that was also my first response to the news about two studios working on Hitman. If it ever becomes like AC/CoD in terms of 'raping a game', then we yet haven't seen the worse happening to our beloved franchise.

Well going the AC route may not be a great idea. However, you have to remember that the engine is what take time to make the most. Building on it and modifying it is less than half the work. So if we see a Hitman game released 1 after the other year by year for at least 2 years, it shouldn't really be a surprise. But, I support at least a 2 year gap like the time between SA and contracts and contracts and BM.

Now, it depends on the situation as usual, but going year by year for more than 2-3 years wouldn't go well. It would be ok for 2 years, but not more.
