I see this having the potential to be awesome if they remove the limit. I'm thinking more "sandbox" than I am "puzzle" here though. There is just a ton of stuff that would be cool to play with that doesn't have a purpose.
I remember Farcry: Predator on the Xbox360 had a multiplayer map editor and more than half the maps people made were obstacle courses, mazes, and similar things. Are you thinking of something like that? Honestly, to me those are the best uses of a map editor. Most people cant really put together a decently balanced map designed for actual play. And it is way more interesting to explore a creative map.
Now that I typed all that out I realize that Portal is an obstacle course game and there is no other way to design a map other than with creativity... I guess I am just asking if you would elaborate on what you mean by "sandbox" and not "puzzle".

Please favourite it guyz, upvote/comment and subscribe lol. I spent way too much time on this, the companion cubes kept hitting each other in mid air lol, it took so much tweaking

There's just certain things that would be fun to do that have no real puzzle value to them.
I recall in the first one a series of platforms where you jupmed off one and down to the next, and while in the air you had to hit the next higher platform with a portal before you fell so you could get up through it, and then shoot the next one higher, etc.
Think it would be fun to have maybe a hundred in a row and see how far you could make it without missing one.
Things that you could play with and not just solve.
