Ha! I'm an idiot. must be playing too much blood money and sniper challenge back to back, I'll back out of the argument about the voice acting until I know what the hell I'm talking about.

Some people around the net are saying it's Hugh Dillon, but his voice is not deep like that. How come nobody recognizes it.
Indeed, it's not him, for sure.

That is terrible. It sounds like Olyphant.
First time you hear it?

If by Olyphant you mean American then yes. otherwise it doesn't really sound like him. You'd think they could replace DB with another english accent????

But...I was more upset over Ironside leaving SC than Bateson leaving Hitman because IMO Ironside has a much more iconic voice (not dissing Bateson at all, just Ironside's ismore unique)
This new guy has potential I believe (please don't flame) but after replaying Blood Money...even though I've only played that game, it'll be weird without him haha
Again though, I care more about gameplay than anything else.

I agree, wholeheartedly. It's not like the hitman franchise had always been very dialogue driven.

Exactly. I don't think the new voice is terrible. Still suits the character but is definitely jarring to hear after hearing Bateson's original voice. The guy they got for SC on the other hand........

I don't think the voice actor is bad, he obviously has talent, but I don't think it suits the character. 47 is much darker then what is portrayed in the birdy interaction..

Maybe he's evolving? I mean...he wasn't dark at the beginning of Hitman 2. I mean, he was happy there, his voice was just dark and moody. I think that if he needs to appear a certain way he can. Although he's still dealing with an underground guy so I don't see why he wouldn't retain his demeanor...in the RFYL walkthrough, when he says he never left....that sounded like 47. Not like Bateson but it fit 47. It's a great line and nod to the huge gap between games but I think throughout the game he will have a more emotional spectrum than previous. I'm opposed to this since they hinted at it in Silent Assassin but it may be weird. I think he just needs to be calm and resilient through and through and save the really dark and brooding moments for when it really matters. Idk, it could come out okay, great, or downright atrocious. We'll have to see.

I think the majority of the fans on this site have voiced our concern and displeasure over the voice change ad nausem. But that's okay. It may be too late for Bateson's return to Absolution but maybe it's not too late to let him make a return in future games?
Just as the voice change wasn't discussed, so too shall the reverting change back to Mr. Bateson.
There's nothing more ironic in the words of Agent 47 saying, "I never left" than to have those words said by someone other than Mr. Bateson.

Exactly.
Always knew i didnt belong in this world. I wasnt
made for this. But Ill never forget - those who betrayed me, and
those who never failed my trust. Ill be carrying nothing from
Gontranno but this lesson: never trust anyone and rely on your
instincts. Forget the past. Ill never find peace here. So, Ill
seek justice for myself. Ill choose the truth I like.

The new voice doesn't sound darker at all, it sounds quite the opposite of darker.

Re the clip above, the new voice actor sounds nice... but it's just not Agent 47.
True. If only they stayed true to the character and not make him talk like that in the video i'd try to accept it. But come on...the voice does not fit and he talks like the typical american "badass". I really hope is just for that scene, and if they change it, even better.
Ok, it might be too early to judge, but they only showed 2 clips, and one of them already shows him talking in a very different way.

The RFYL voice did have the dark, menacing tone that suits 47. Of course, it's not Bateson, but still acceptable.
The voice in the birdy cutscene just sounds quite... generic.
THe latter half of this video proves that the "I never left" was much lower than "I need information...for a price of course"

In this day and age, losing your wallet is more dramatic than losing your virginity.
