I thought it would be nice to have a separate topic to discuss the PC version of the forthcoming game.

When will we see some PC screens? A trailer? Any information? Will it have DX11 options, for example?

Share your thoughts and expectations ;)

I don't expect anything special for the PC version, I just hope for a well-optimized port as always for any game. Probably why we still can't play the Sniper Challenge yet.

I don't remember where, but I think it was in Q&A section - devs said it's not going to be just a port from the console version. They'r doing theyr best with the PC version too. Like u said - mostly i hope for Really good optimized thing :)

Yea I'm definitely pumped about it and will be getting the PC version. Like everyone has been saying, I hope it's optimized. If it is, then it will be the best version by far. Can't wait for more specific details.

it will be fine as all of the past Hitman games where not crappy ports as each where made for PC separately. which basically means it's optimized on PC and i am sure Hitman Absolution will be no different.

That's really good to hear! Some games just get wrecked with a simple port. Good stuff! :)

It sounds to me like each version is going to be well-optimized for its platform. I think the PC version will probably look and run very, very good.

Yeah, but with the consoles being 2005-2006 tech, that typically holds back the game to some degree which i am not complaining as it makes it easier to run games without needing some monster CPU/GPU to do it and it's graphics will still be well within the 'good enough' range. either way, with it being 6 years since the last Hitman game that alone should boost the game quite a bit in graphics/AI you would assume since when Blood Money came out single core CPU's where the standard in which games where made for.

consoles seem to control the gaming market (basically slows down the progression of PC games, but in a way it's a good thing as after a while you don't need to upgrade your PC nearly as much) which probably explains why any PC that's not too old will still run most games fairly well and will probably continue to do so to the next gen consoles arrive basically which i would estimate will be within the next year or two. once the next generation consoles arrive then PC's, in terms of gaming, will get outdated quick again for a while til they hit that point where they can comfortably run games and stay that way for a while and start the process all over again.

i would imagine once a console is around 4-ish years old any decent CPU/GPU purchased around that time will probably hold up well for a while especially if your not looking for some perfect liquid smooth gaming experience and just need a playable one.

p.s. even my current GPU is nothing fancy (i.e. Radeon 5670 512MB (a bit shy of a Geforce 9800GT in NVIDIA terms)) but i am sure ill be able to comfortably run Hitman Absolution with it but i am not expecting to run it flawlessly (at least not at the resolution i want which is 1080p. worst case scenario... ill drop the resolution some and my FPS will get a solid boost) as far as my GPU goes but as far as my CPU it will be more than enough since it can run any game out there well if paired with a good GPU and it's not even a arm and a leg either as it's (i3-2120) $115-125 range right now (pretty much the best CPU you can get for a cheap price and holds up well in gaming vs the higher priced CPU's to) and i got it almost 2 months ago now along with new motherboard/RAM for $230 total cost which boosted my performance a lot on the CPU side vs my previous 6 year old setup as it's at least 3 times faster and might even be 5times area based on video encoding i am doing with x264.exe which taxes the CPU pretty good.

It will be Steamworks, most likely, since Square Enix is the publisher.

as for the system requirements...

i obviously don't know what they are but i imagine if you got anything that's 'core 2 duo' or better level you will most likely at least meet the minimum requirements.

even graphics card wise... it probably will run on just about any 512MB graphics card that's not TOO old as nowadays it seems like graphics cards with 512MB seem to be the minimum for most games in general.

that's just a rough estimate but i think ill be pretty close at least as far as the minimum requirements go.

What do you think guys? my Evga 9800GT can run Hitman Absolution on Max Graphics?

i got a Radeon 5670 512MB and that is pretty similar to your Geforce 9800GT and i am confident ill be able to run it @ 1080p (1920x1080) with most of the graphics on. but... not at any liquid smooth frame rates for sure. but still should be a playable/enjoyable experience overall. worst case scenario, lower the resolution to say 720p (1280x720) or so and the frame rate will spike up quite a bit although visuals will take a hit especially if your monitor's default resolution is 1080p like mine it as on games 1080p seems to look noticeably better than 720p does. but even if i had to go back to 720p or so it won't be the end of the world as it will still look good enough and most importantly i can still play it on a PC.

just disable regular Anti-Aliasing as that's a performance killer and not much of a visual gain especially at higher resolutions like 1080p and i would imagine the game will have FXAA support which is a way to get AA (Anti-Aliasing) but without the big performance hit as FXAA is little to no performance hit. also, if you had to you can usually lower shadow quality for a overall minimal drop in visuals and seems to give a decent boost to the frame rate.

your 9800GT might be a little bit faster than my Radeon 5670 though as sometimes they are similar and i have seen your 9800GT beat my card a fair amount in some cases. but either way are cards are similar it's just mine uses less power though (20watts idle) since it's powered from the motherboard and don't require any addition power to run it (which i think your 9800GT does?).

but your Geforce 9800GT has 512MB of RAM, right?

also, depending on what kinds of graphics options are there your video RAM 'may' be a limiting factor as on Max Payne 3 i only could run 1920x1080 on the 'high' setting (i had DX11 on since my card does DirectX 11 where your 9800GT i think is only DX10 (maybe 9?)) due to lack of video ram as that's the max i could set the textures etc to but the game still looks pretty good overall even at that setting. but Hitman might not be like that so we will have to wait and see. either way, the graphics still should look good when running @ 1080p.

p.s. but my CPU will be more than enough to run the game perfectly (i3-2120) as it can comfortably run any game out there if paired with a solid GPU. but my GPU is clearly the bottleneck in my system (which means my frame rate is limited due my GPU) which i had since 2010. but about 2 months ago (early May) i upgraded my CPU/MOBO/RAM for $230 for all three components as it was a pretty massive upgrade to my previous 6 year old setup without killing your $$$. just going from 2GB of system RAM to 8GB worked wonders for general use as everything stays snappy now and when playing a game and when you exit back to windows it's still just as snappy which when you lack system RAM when you exit a game back to windows it's got to reload a bunch of stuff back into RAM.
