i got hitman CD47 for my birthday 5 years ago, and really liked the game, but could never finish it. i found it again a few days ago while cleaning my room and wanted to play it again. i tried installing it on my HP laptop running 64-bit windows 7, and the setup never opens. i tried using the autorun.now, autorun and setup files, but each time i click on install (or setup.exe) it seems to load (the mouse does as if it's loading something), but nothing opens. i tried running it on another computer (windows 7 32-bit, desktop computer) and it worked, so it's not with the disc. i don't know what to do, because i don't want to buy it again. on the cover of the disc box it says windows 95/98/2000/XP, but not win7. i don't think there was win7 when i got the game, but i still don't want to buy another copy. can anyone help me? thanks in advance for anyone who answers.

What sort of graphics hardware does the laptop have? If it's a basic Intel chipset rather than something nVidia or Radeon then Hitman and other games may not run properly if at all.

I've successfully installed C47 onto my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop. The first obvious difference is that it's a desktop. ;) Laptops sometimes don't work very well with games. In particular, what graphics hardware does yours have? A basic Intel chipset could give trouble with many games; some sort of nVidia or Radeon hardware should work better.

My copy of C47 is actually the cut-price SoldOut re-release, which does a bit of installation on behalf of SoldOut before getting into the game installation proper; I don't know if this makes a difference. I am reminded that another game, "Riven - The Sequel To Myst", won't install to 64-bit Windows 7 because its 16-bit installer just doesn't work, so I had to buy a version with an updated installer from Good Old Games. (Which, to the best of my knowledge, is legitimate and is recommended on the official Myst forum for exactly this problem.)
