No doubt what that was about, but they were young and probably was thinking alot about that topic :joy:.

Maybe that’s the problem, not the lyrics itself?

Many band was heavily inspired by Led Zeppelin, so that can be the reason why you feel you have heard it already elsewhere?

i’m old and i think a lot about that topic.

yeah, but it’s still to cringe-inducing for me to want to return to that song. and i dislike the pscyhedelic solo as well since it’s a bit too on the nose

both things combined for sure

that’s true but i had discovered led zeppelin much earlier than i did most other bands in my music listening experience. and of course they had their influences too. but mainly it’s just the pentatonic blues thing which gets stale after a while. they do have great and unique ideas too like that 7/4 guitar riff over 4/4 drum pattern in kashmir or how the riff in one section of black dog shifts by an eighth note each time it’s played but i don’t enjoy their songwriting that much

Impressive and I have nothing to add :flushed: :joy:, this is way beyond my understandig, I can of course hear a song change, but not what the different beats are called.

Can’t imagine why this song came to mind…

When I saw this band perform this song live in 2018, my mind temporarily left my body and I transcended to a higher plane of existence. Then when it was over, I was left stood in a muddy field in a state of euphoria.

It’s weird because i’d seen them play twice before and they were always decent. But that time was special.

Not really a piece of music but in music news Ryuichi Sakamoto has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. Sakamoto was a part of Yellow Magic Orchestra (think Japanese Kraftwerk and you get the idea) before he transitioned into a solo career and film score composing.

aphex is indeed great but every release after saw 85-92 is inconsistent whereas that one is just straight full of gems. in general, his softer tracks without the programmed drum craziness are usually what i enjoy more

i’ve never listened to squarepusher before. this track, sadly, doesn’t do it for me. all parts sound too familiar or something

oh, he’s pretty eclectic. have a ganders. :slightly_smiling_face:
