Grey and 47 would just be half as hot without their childhood trauma

Some old pals of mine were in a sickeningly underrated band a good few years ago. Would’ve loved to have seen these guys become the next My Vitriol or something. Nobody else in the UK was really doing this sort of thing back in the mid noughties.

Some vintage MONO from a time when they were simultaneously the quietest and the loudest band on earth.

Speak for yourself - You should have seen them on their 2005 tour. Loudest gig I’ve ever seen bar none.

fair play. they’re amazing.

mbv are pretty well known for ridiculous volume. i saw them on their first reunion tour in 2008? 9? something. i had to buy a ticket off a scalp and had enough left for a single pint. no drugs. important point.

they did the song i posted and - i shit you not, sir - during the ending i felt the vibrations go slowly from my toes and rise to my head like i was coming up. it was… profound. i felt completely off my nut when i left. also: deaf.

On a big MONO kick lately. It’s not often I listen to them on record but I picked up 3 of their albums on vinyl. I already own everything of theirs on CD but their sound lends itself really well to vinyl somehow.

They’re releasing a live album next month. I’m lucky enough to have been at this show when it was recorded so it’s wonderful to re-live it. I was right there at the front row, just off to the right. Wonderful evening.
