Yeah we are aware of a couple of retailers not sending over Deluxe Edition codes and then forwarding them to us. Our team is in talks with them to resolve this unforeseen issue.
Apologies! This is not intended at all.
Thanks for the info @IOI_Artjoms. Do you have any idea of when the affected will recieve our codes? I sent a ticket last week but have not received an aswer.
That number puts the 1.5M sold copies into perspective. If we assume they all paid the full price, 70$, and 30% is kept by the systems, IO still has to sell 9.5M copies more. That number does not go down that much if we reduce what XB, PS and Steam keep, which probably is more accurate at these volumes.
Maybe I miss something as well. ![]()
How do you get to 9.5 million? If I understand you correctly, you assume that platform operators keep 30 % of the game price, whereas IOI get 0.7*70$ = 49 $. 200 M $ divided by 49 $ is a good 4 million copies.
However, there are countries, where the game is sold at a lower price than 70 $. On the other hand, IOI probably also get some sponsorship money. Coca Cola seems a likely source of additional income for them. Not sure whoâs paying who when it comes to Aston Martin and Omega.
I think itâd fit more in the discussion thread
Done. Thanks!
Yeah I canât get to my number again, did something wrong there. Maybe I applied the 30% to what IO keeps. Also forgot about the sponsorships, even though idk either who pays who with Amazon in the picture.
This discussion is happening in the Spoilers thread too but as this is news I will post this link here:
With this random, juicy quote (bold emphasis mine):
Amazon hasnât completely abandoned the space: It is, for example, publishing the upcoming Tomb Raider games, Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst, and it could strike a similar publishing deal with IOI for a new Young Jimbo adventure. But it might also decide that, dollar for dollar, itâs better off with an AI-led mobile gameâfree for Prime Video subscribers, maybe. That sounds terrible, but given the companyâs history with games, I donât think anythingâs off the table at this point.
I donât know what Young Jimbo is. Apparently thereâs a rapper by that name. This is either bad reporting or a miscommunication.
My guess when seeing it was actually âYoung James Bondâ, since in GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies, Wade (Bond´s CIA chum) refers to Bond as Jimbo on a number of occasions. (And me and my dad immediately adopted that)
Oh oh oh of course that makes sense. Jesus Iâm thick sometimes. Ok well Iâll keep the post up for transparency but Iâll be embarrassed for a while.
Great news for us Hitman fans. Amazon will say good job kids (IO) now let the pros fuck it upâ and we get a new Hitman experience sooner rather than later.
Contracts 2 is my wish.
I mean did anyone else feel like there was a Bond vibe going back. H2:SA reminded me of it with the World Traveller aspect.
Also:
Jimbo is common short for James lol.
As an aside, came here when I saw the news. Hopefully Amazon doesnât steal First Light away from IOI.
Edit:
Okay they arenât sure yet, the GM at Amazon said IO wouldnât be involved, but now they would.
Edit 2: NVM apparently Amazon Game Studios is a Publisher, not developer.
Yeah Iâm stupid and wasnât braining at full functionality. Thatâs what being in between homes and traveling long distances to work and 4 hours of sleep will do to you. Might need to schedule a meeting with Dr Lafayette lol.
I canât say I got that vibe no.
Well, ICA did begin as an offshoot of MI5 that went rogue/private circa WWII, so that makes sense theyâd borrow a fellow agencyâs insignia. Combined of course with good olâ Jolly Roger.
That just means First Light is still making money and they didnât mean to publicly say anything about cutting IO loose or not. Assuming they want to make a game on their own they wouldnât tell anyone while First Light is still getting active updates from IO and there is still money on the table. The renewal or the chop comes after youâre sure how the first one did. My guess is 3.5 to 4 million sales is a break even point ish
Well, I havenât finished the game yet, but nothing Iâve seen from anybodyâs comments suggests that it ends on a cliffhanger or anything. Some story threads dangling but not something that leaves the whole deal incomplete. So if IOI is cut loose from future sequels, I wonât need to get them, I can count this as a complete work unto itself and be satisfied with that.
There is a cliffhanger similar to how Hitman 2016 ended in a way that sequel baits. I wonât say anymore though as this isnât the spoiler thread.
