Department of Dr. Tan, the TacSim is the diegetic live service side of 007 First Light.
Escalation and operations have their own set of challenges, many of them for each in fact.
It’s also the place to use your outfits and skins, and play with upgradable versions of the gadgets.
(do note the nice bark for each outfit)
As of release there are 5 escalations and 2 operations.
Most are unlocked after completion of the story campaign.
Much more is expected to arrive
This topic is to talk of them, and keeping with the new releases on it as time goes on.
The two Advanced Training, and the TacSim itself, are available after chapter 6. All the rest are available after you beat the campaign.
In other news.
Apparently a future car based mission is teased for the future.
Which reassures me, as I was afraid it was going to be all trespassing/hostile gameplay.
And I expressed a few times my expectation of IOI using the car segment level in this mode. It seems it even have my wish of using different places in a row, linking them for our fun.
I think that TacSim itself is unlocked pretty soon after Iceland, it’s just in a very limited capacity
While I enjoyed what I played of the TacSim I cant see it catching on in the same way Hitman’s live model did. Im looking forward to the car mission because it reminds me so much of Nightfire or Everything or Nothing
Two new escalations released. They also bring the attainable clearance level up. Making some of the previously higher requirement item easier to unlock without having to do everything, like the missile pen at 15.
New weapons and suit are available. The suit demands a clearance level of 18, and is now the “done everything” reward. Until next batch release that is…
The news weapons are each new gameplay archetypes.
The weapons are:
Stormberg 50’cal - a pistol useful against armoured enemy
DRX-2 Machine Pistol - an automatic weapon equipable in the pistol slot
DRS-7 Silenced SMG - the first silenced long arm of the tacsim
New TacSim Escalation:
The Workshop
The lights are low, the workshop is quiet, and seven hostiles stand between you and a clean exit. Stay out of sight and strike decisively in this new three-tier Escalation.
The data is secure, but the way out is never simple in this three-tier Escalation. Read the security layout, find the perfect route, and escape before the response closes in.
I have not permanently moved on, and I will return, but I’m not rushing back either. I truly did love the game. I had a few fun sessions with it but the post-game content is a little lacking. I do expect that in a year or two it’ll be solid, and new players will have a good amount of content to look forward to.
Also, the long load times don’t help. I want to mess around and experiment in these tacsims, but with a (guessing) 30-second load screen upon every fail, there’s a lot of frustration and waiting around.
I haven’t even gotten into the game yet, but I’m waiting for a sale, or details on the New Game Plus update. Whichever comes first.
Very excited to get into it whenever I do… I’ve heard tons of fun things about it!
First, it now has a new category, joining escalations and operations are Activities.
With the first one being the awaited Valhalla Protocol.
It arrives with 6 challenges.
Activities can have multiple variants.
In this case four:
Day (with targets)
Night (with targets)
Day (time trial)
Night (time trial)
Do note that day and night have a different route: day is in reverse and has an additional flair to its last stretch.
Then is a new operation, Jungle Heist.
A document retrieval and extraction around the Emperor Villa at The Pearl.
It seems that it will have its own crescendo and scripts as you go through the objectives.
It arrives with 8 challenges (well 7 plus a 8th master one)
(also IOI is definitively in love with the Powerful Enemies modifier, it’s always present.)
As for the TacSim, new suits are incoming:
Leisure Beam, First Class, and Observant Spy (3 out of 5 coca-cola rewards) are now in the Tac-Sim intel-shop.
One More (4th out of 5 coca-cola reward) is a twitch drop from October 1st to October 16th.
The Grey Standard Outfit (a brand new suit), is an IOI account reward
New weapons are also available:
Storm 12 Gauge (shotgun) - lvl 20
Squire Marksman Rifle (Semi Automatic rifle - can go through helmets) - lvl 18
(for reference: max level before the update was 19)
Finally: Jack the bulldog is here.
And you can pet him.
I’m playing on Xbox Series X. I converted the game to a digital version using the new Xbox feature that allows you to accept a digital license. I also downloaded the 007 update.
Since then, I can launch the game, but the start menu says that I don’t have the required content to play the game.
As a result, I can no longer play the game at all.
I just figured it out. By choosing to accept the digital license, I was apparently given access to the Starter Pack instead, and I no longer have access to the full version of the game.
Help!
Arti posted on the subreddit that they’re aware of the issue, and will deploy a hot fix for it as fast as possible. It’s a major enough bug I’m assuming that’s the highest priority to fix.
You can also change your gadgets on the fly too (but you can only access gadgets that are available at that point of the campaign rather than having them all).
I’m assuming this was to resolve the criticism that if you were playing through chapters for challenge completion, you previously had to go all the way back to the last gadget equip point and then play through to get to the point where you need to be to complete the challenge you’re working on.
