Announcing New Elusive Target: The Drop (Active, 27 october - 27 November 2023)

Holy shit. I guess I should stop guessing about whether IOI has any new surprises or plans to drop new content beyond what they’ve announced, because I’ve been unusually wrong every time on that subject.

This is awesome. A celebrity ET for the final phase of the WoA arc (maybe something is being done about the others as well, who the hell knows what they’re doing), and if the intro is any indication, this may well be the first ET that’s not ICA commissioned and takes place after the main game, an ET during 47’s Freelancer days. I wonder where the target will be. Berlin seems the obvious choice for a number of reasons, but perhaps too obvious?

I can’t think of anywhere else it could take place tbh. Berlin is too specialised

Exactly my thinking, but again, isn’t that too obvious? DJs and drugs are already a thing in Berlin, is it possible Dubai or Mendoza might be dressed up to accommodate this new target? Not likely, as just making a new ET in itself is costly, why go to the effort of dressing up another map when you’ve got one tailor-made for such a target. But, I’ve decided to no longer make assumptions where IOI is concerned; let’s face it, this came out of fucking nowhere.

Nice. Looking forward to this.

While I don’t expect much more to be relased for TWOA this still increases my hopes that we’ll see another new map in the future.

At this point, who could say. IOI has been so good with its announcements of stuff we didn’t suspect coming throughout the entirely trilogy, announcing freaking Hitman 4 isn’t even outside the realm of possibility, technically speaking.

What the??!!
Cool surprise reveal, weird 47 animation (looks nothing like him??) but ooh new content??

“International superstar and actor Dimitri Vegas” hehehe
I don’t know who this guy is at ALL, but I like that it’s gonna be a new ET!
(RIP my dreams of a BigMooney celebrity ET…)

This is quite the surprise, IOI! You really had this hidden!

More accurately, it looks like age has finally caught up with 47 and he actually looks like he’s in his late fifties. A few small wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and forehead, and he looks like he’s gained a few pounds. Very awkward image they decided to go with, but eh, probably pressed for time when they did it.

Why the hell does this guy keep appearing in my favorite games?

who is this man??? :joy:

Well let’s hope the contract is for his likeness to be used within the game and not for a limited time event within the game this time.

Pretty sure IOI accounted for that and he’ll be secure for the life of the Hitman 3/World of Assassination entry.

That being said, I’m gonna enjoy this one and take my time, do it perfectly and savor it, just in case it is a one-and-done situation like the Wild Card. I’ll know in my heart I used the opportunity properly. Now I’m super hoping they manage to get the Wild Card back, even just temporarily, so I can say I did everything.

47’s face… What’s with the longer upper lip? It makes me think of…

Maybe they blew all of their budget for the celebrity ET and had very little left over for a proper mo-cap, or even 47’s face model… From their own got’danged game! :astonished:

Very off-putting (it’s Cursed™), but whatever. Finally a new ET.

I can’t find any evidence for this in the promo material, so… wait and see.

You won’t find that in the promo, obviously. I’m just talking in terms of past experience. IOI knows when they lose the likeness rights, and in the case of Sean Bean, since they ran both of his twice, while Gary Busey’s was only ran once, indicates Busey’s was one-and-done, while Bean’s was for while H2 was active. Considering how the community has responded to these things, IOI most likely secured rights for the game itself rather than a timeframe.

25th anniversary for ioi is September 16th. So not too long of a wait.

Hey, @Dribbleondo, are you gonna be the one to make an entry for this guy on the tropes page? For certain the One Steve Limit trope will need to add him in, since there’s now two targets named Dimitri (Vegas and Federov).

I predict they’ll drop The Drop on September 15 since that’s the closest Friday to the actual anniversary date.

Seems plausible, it must have been shown on a big screen so they used some faceapp thingy to show it on a large scale, and since not everyone knows who 47 is, they went for a more realistic visual. Looks odd but who cares?! i’m absolutely thrilled this new ET is coming this fall.
Yes, Berlin is the most logical place to place such target, a drug impresario. My guess is something will happen between the stage area and the biker’s workshop. ETs are such a stressful mission because of the one time opportunity system but damn, that really is great news.

If only some new unique kill opportunity could be added in along with this guy. Like, if you get him into the DJ booth alone (the front of which is now sealed with bulletproof glass as he’s suspecting an assassination attempt), you could then lock him in and flood the room somehow, drowning him without getting near him. Hundreds of witnesses and nobody able to point fingers at anything except a very freak accident.
