By the way. Long time wonder.
What should I do to make bricks-like text (■■■■■■) readable?
Somewhere I saw that I need to install Japanese and other logographic language packages, but what namely?
Ah I think this is what Plato had in mind when he wrote the allegory of the cave for his Republic.
Will need to upgrade my pc anytime soon. Some newer games don’t work. But I probably can’t afford an all new pc. Built my system all the time from scratch. As I don’t have unlimited funds I thought about upgrading piece by piece. Here’s the question: Where do I start? What would have the biggest impact? What do I have to keep in mind? Here’s my specs:
Go with the GPU first. Had the same problems when trying to run STALKER 2 on a I5-8400 CPU, GTX 1050TI GPU and 16GB RAM as in it ran below 20FPS with everything on low. With my new RX 6650XT I can run it somewhere between 40-60FPS (lower in more populated areas) at native resolution with the High preset graphical settings and no frame gen. ![]()
Try to go with a GPU that has more than 8GB of VRAM if you can and if you can’t, wait till you do ![]()
I would suggest investing into a new GPU. You get the most for the money if you switch to an AMD card. Maybe something around a 9060 XT with 16GB VRAM. I heard the Intel Arc cards are also very price efficient but that would be much more of an experiment.
What you need to understand is that for a new CPU, you need a new mainboard. Which may come with a few other things you need to replace for compatibility reasons. But if you get a decent GPU then you can keep that in case you do such a step.
Note however that you seem to be two generations below the PCIe standard such a recent GPU like I suggested uses. You will likely not see what it is capable of until you get a new mainboard + CPU.
Since you are a fellow German, I can recoomend pcgameshardware.de for comparing hardware with very high quality tests and news in that regard.
Thanks @EvilGeniusRo and @Urben !
But before changing GPU research for a bottleneck feature.
It’s when something is faster/stronger than another.
For example, if you’ll go for latest AMD or Nvidia GPU, your CPU might be older than those and respectively slower/weaker than the newest GPU.
In this case the CPU will decrease the GPU potential and wouldn’t allow it to work in full.
As a result you might not feel any difference between quality and performance of your new GPU.
So basically it will be vain investement though you will be able to play the very latest games which are not launching with your current GPU
Right, since you have a fairly medium CPU for your mainboard socket type, you could also consider getting the beefiest CPU for it. Within the same power limit that seems to be the 9900K. This is still an ancient CPU that is no longer being sold, but with patience you may shoot a good deal on ebay.
Howerer, the effective speed gains seem to be around mere 30-50% for CPU-heavy tasks (may less for games) and the ebay prices I see for it are pretty much equal to the suggested 9060XT GPU.
So I still suggest getting the GPU (seems to have the same power connectors as your current one) and keep an eye on ebay for a cheap 9900K.
I’m really not very smart with phone and stuff so hoping someone can help? My phones been constantly losing charge while plugged in and I’m not really sure what to do
Well you can try and check what apps are draining the battery the most and reset its settings / clear its cache, maybe even uninstall it if it’s not something you really need. Doing a factory reset wouldn’t hurt either, just make sure you backup everything you need ![]()
Same shit with mine been till the repairment.
It was plugged in and indicated charging, but in reality it wasn’t being charged and otherwise was loosing the charge.
It’s a socket problem. Might be combined with broken charging cable, but foremost the socket needs to be taken care of and then you see if it works as should.
Your next step will be visiting the phone repairment centre and explaining them situation asking to look into the charging socket
@Urben @EvilGeniusRo @Count.Rushmore Thanks again for all your help. Got a great deal for a few upgrades.
wow those are quite a few upgrades, if not a whole new PC! Have fun. ![]()
Yes, it’s basically a new PC (except for the displays, keyboard, mouse and a few other stuff). Will invest in a new bigger HDD next. But hope this PC will last for a few years again.
Every keyhole should have a key though.
Then I would call it a bug.
The helipad gate in Miami doesn’t have key as well
I don’t know where else to put this, so here goes.
@IOI_Artjoms can you talk to someone about the game’s poor purchasing system? At least on Steam, I am unaware if things are like this similarly on Epic, Xbox, or Playstation. It is way too convoluted.
I am going to break it down like this:
If you want to experience the full base game, you of course need to buy HITMAN World of Assassination. Except, you don’t have full access to the game. You’re still missing a few things.
However, if you buy HITMAN World of Assassination Part One, you only have access to the maps from Hitman 1. For argument’s sake, let’s say you buy this one.
Now you need to buy the Upgrade Pack, which grants you the ability to play on all locations in the game!
Except it doesn’t. Because in either scenario, if you buy World of Assassination or Part One, then upgrade, you still need to buy the HITMAN 2 Expansion if you want access to the final two maps in the game. This, as far as I know, is the only way to get Haven and New York if you do not buy the Deluxe Edition
I’m not sure if I articulated this well, but I keep seeing people confused about what version of the game to buy because of how complex the purchasing system for this game is
And they were promising to remove confusion…
yeah, I’m repeating myself here, but the way it was before, was much clearer than it is now…
In my short amount of time at IO I already talked to a few members of my team and part of the overall Hitman team and I can totally understand the confusion on how to buy WOA and desired content. As these kind of problems do not just happen overnight you can imagine there is a lot of history and actions taken to lead to this kind of confusion. There is a lot to unpack and I’m not confident enough to say I actually have a full overview…YET.
However, be assured the team is aware and I will ask for the team to look into it further down the line. It can and surely will take some time since we are talking about a big company and multiple departments that need to work on that.
Thanks for the ping and raising the question. I already noticed, that this seems like an issue. ![]()
Thanks, Arti! You’re a star ![]()
