Can you lose the "regular" badge?

What the title says. I noticed I lost my regular status and I’m curios to know why.

You probably no longer fulfil the criteria.

Or the moderators don’t like you :woman_shrugging:

You have to stay an active user to keep the regular status. In your case you did not view enough individual topics.

Well, that’s a shame. I agree I’ve not been so active lately. Thanks for your answers.

You can get it back. It’s not a lost once and done thing.

Yeah, I’ve lost and regained it lots of times, due to lack of activity. So long as you follow the rules, listen to instructions from mods and don’t do anything egregious, then it’s never out of reach.

Whatever metrics are set to achieve this status, you’d get (usually) more people to get this rank due to more activity (once approved by tptb -I assume). Such as a new game by IOI, or new content for HITMAN. If the flow of the “river” slows down, then less people achieve this status, and even more could fall off. Unless there’s a… cool down period(?) where a length of inactivity won’t remove the rank, until after a certain number of days (I’m guessing).

Like if someone is 99% of the way to losing the rank, then return and do (whatever) to revive or put their per centage back to a safe status.

Or would it have to be built back up from -99, like they’re digging out of a hole (or activity deficit)?

If a forum member reads 5 topics, likes 13 posts, would they be back to 0% danger,

or would they be at 85% danger with more work to go (just as an example, since I have no idea what… keeps the gears turning).

That last scenario doesn’t make sense now that I think about it.

Or is it a number of factors that have to be maintained, like a chain. Once one link breaks you lose status?

(Forum user) visited every day, but didn’t read enough topics… (wah wah :trumpet: )

I don’t know the requirements but when you achieve regular status the system stops checking you for a certain period of time (I think 30 days) so that people aren’t attaining and losing regular status 5 times in a week.

The general mechanism is explained here:

(Trust level 3 are Regulars, Trust level 4 are what we call Heralds here)

To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of days
  • Must have replied to at least 10 different non-PM topics
  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*
  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  • Must not have been suspended or silenced in the last 6 months

* These likes must be across a minimum number of different users (1/5 the number), across a minimum number of different days (1/4 the number). Likes cannot be from PMs.

All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you can lose trust level 3 status. If you dip below these requirements in the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member. However, in order to avoid constant promotion/demotion situations, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after gaining Trust Level 3 during which you will not be demoted.

So as you can see, many factors are actually scaled with the overall forum activity with some cap it does not become impossible to fulfill, though it seems we are not near these caps.

For example, these are the requirements today:

When H3 came out and social distancing was going on, it was much easier to earn regular status. Alas…I have accepted I’ll never join the ranks again, as it seems futile (as mostly a lurker lately) but it is nice to see at least a concrete set of rules and that it’s not left up to chance.

No shame in not being a regular. The special lounge doesn’t have any food or drink in it anyway (-;

Pretty sure I lost it once and got it back.
