DARTMOOR, England (Mission #2) - Location Discussion

Do you mean the challenges where a target kills another target? Like Jordan killing Ken in Bangkok and Robert Knox killing Sierra Knox in Miami?

I think what makes the Dartmoor kill so distinct to me is that Alexa did it completely by herself, it didn’t really require 47 to manipulate anything or pull some strings.

It shocked me because I tried the other solutions first & she goes out onto the balcony anyway, so I was just sitting there like “ok cool when she comes back inside I can do this challenge & this other challenge and… wait, what the–”

Oh, no no. I meant the ones @Loner mentioned right afterwards: The Curator in Hokkaido and Hector Delgado in Santa Fortuna.

It does actually. You still need to “solve” the case by claiming it to be a suicide, otherwise she won´t do it. Though having her do it is not really the objective of the claim (well, until you as the player find out that´s what happens  ).

Well, it requires a half-lie from 47. Even though the murder committed by Alexa and Zachary was in vain, Zachary didn’t commit suicide because of that.

So I just gave the sniper method one more go to figure out the timing, and realized there´s actually a much simpler way of doing it SA. Just shoot the undertaker in the foot (I thought a sniper shot would kill him even there, but it doesn´t), and shoot Carlisle into the grave while he´s on the ground. No distraction shots or timing required. No wonder speedrunners like this mechanic so much :joy: (I did it with the Golden Dragon, but I assume any rifle is ok)

Wait, you can legshot people with Golden Dragon? I thought about that but tried legshotting people with most of the rifles and they always died instantly. I know legshotting people with sniper rifles has been a thing in past HITMAN games but now they all seem suddenly really powerful. Or maybe it’s the distance that makes him not die? The only rifle I tried it from a long distance with was Sieger 300.

I specifically shot him in the foot, not leg, but lemme give it a quick try

Ok, so here´s what I found out after giving it a try with all 4 rifles I have atm (Golden Dragon, Hackl Leviathan, Hunting (Woodsman?) Rifle, Druzhina):

  1. You don´t have to hit the foot, anywhere in the leg will do. Also, distance doesn´t seem to have any role. However:

  2. This only works with rifles which don´t have the Piercing perk. The Leviathan and Druzhina result in a kill, even if you just scratch the toes. The Hunting Rifle and Golden Dragon can be used for this tactic (well, the Bartoli is super-outclassed since it doesn´t have magnifying or a silencer). Which of course means that:

  3. The Golden Dragon does not actually have the Piercing perk, despite its description saying so (and I confirmed by trying it out the necessary way). So this one is going straight into the Bugs list if it´s not already there. (Edit: It is. Ligox posted it two days ago, so no need to do it again)

Just tried with Woodsman rifle and distance actually has a meaning, at close range it kills instantly and from far away it doesn’t. I didn’t know that was a thing but glad to see it is. I also tried Sieger 300 again and it didn’t kill instantly from far away, I don’t know why that happened earlier.

Which Woodsman? The one used by an ICA agent in Berlin or the one you unlock? Despite being and looking the same they have different stats for some reason.

The unlock, since we’re talking about Dartmoor now.

Interesting… I only tried checking the distance with the Dragon, and it had the same effect on the undertaker/Carlisle, the gardeners in front of the cemetary, and the guards on the parking lot right beneath me… Different weapon stats then?

So, you got Silent Assassin, Sniper completed?

Have IO removed the thing where if you shoot someone they instantly know your whereabouts and compromises you? I’m stunned shooting the NPC in the leg (but not killing him) doesn’t result in a compromise. That’s how the past 2 games have functioned.

It might have to do with the fact that the refular Woodsman is unsupressed.
Edit: Just checked with Jaeger 7 and Jaeger 7 Covert and the supressor doesn’t seem to make a difference. Both of them don’t 1 shot-body shot on long range but do at close range.
Edit 2: Regular Sieger 300 kills in 1 body shot from close range but doesn’t at long range.
Edir 3: Ditto with Woodsman ICA Covert.

Verdict: Distance does seem to have an efect but only for non piercing rifles apart form Sieger 300 Ghost.

Yup.

Doesn´t look like it, but I haven´t really examined it. In this particular instance in Dartmoor, my status went to “searching”. If I went into cover on the balcony right after the kill shot, then the guard(s) wouldn´t figure out where I am and the status returned to normal. However if I kept standing, it would take a few seconds for them to know and open fire in my direction. It might be because Carlisle´s bodyguard was standing behind the tombstone, so the compromising might be affected by whether a guard is looking in your general direction or witnesses the hit?

I did try goofing around in Sapienza on the church tower with De Santis on the pier however (also with the Dragon). It always went into “searching” first, but regardless of whether I shot/killed only her or shot someone else in the leg first, and regardless of whether I went into cover right afterwards or not, the guards would always know my position within 20 secs and started shooting at the top of the tower (first time immediately hitting the bell and making it fall, scaring the shit out of me). So my guess is no, they haven´t removed it.

I made a joyous discovery (not sure if anyone else has done this already, sorry if I’m repeating your post…)

I killed the target by putting the rake in front of her grave. You can shoot the birds nests and she’ll get knocked out all on her own and fall into the grave. Very satisfying to watch.

I thought when you ring the be she gets all pissed and goes back to her old route

Really? Hmm I thought it would start the meeting.

What’s the kill with Hector Delgado? That’s the only one I don’t recall super well.

But yeah I completely agree with you on how powerful and impacting her suicide is. Especially with how she’s accepted her end and made peace with it, even after knowing you’re 47. It’s all over for her.

Hector kills himself if you push Martinez off the balcony in front of him. He goes back to his room, does one last line and tosses himself of a balcony.
