Difficulty (level/game design) is too easy? what did you think

I wasn’t expecting a souls-like but I can’t help but feel they washed the difficulty down with the linear experience. It was laughably bad (easy) at some points in the game. Seems like it was made for “kids” though idk why as most bond fans are “older”. It was fairly fun though. Any thoughts?

I always wonder about the amount of people who actually like this. Honestly can’t tell wether there are just a few people always begging for more and more challenge and difficulty while the vast majority enjoys a cinematic experience or if really most players wish for higher stakes.

I for my part do enjoy a challenge from time to time, but I hate repetition. Max Payne 1 had very difficult parts, but with quicksave it was a fun puzzle to solve. Hitman’s escalations are a negative example because one late mistake usually forces you to redo all the prep work again, which I personally despise.

So, while I have not played 007 yet (I always wait for two, three months of patches nowadays), I myself and probably many others just want to experience a Bond adventure in which they can run and shoot, not necessarily retrying hard bossfights and punishing stealth all the time.

But - as always: Options!
My preferred way for all games in general is: Options. Games should have a free save non-challenge story mode, “normal” modes in between and a hardcore mode for passionate gamers.

EDIT: When re-reading this, I realize how “I hate repetition” and “I love Hitman” feel to be cancelling out themselves. So let me explain: I love Hitman’s repetition as long as I get to experiment more and more, I get to know the map, I can find so many ways. Love this, love the interactivity and the dynamic possibilites. Also, the game gives you new starting locations including costumes, so this prep work can be skipped. What I do not like is when a game forces you to do one very specific thing and when you fail step 5, you have to repeat the ever same steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 over and over again.

If we are talking about skill difficulty then Hitman isn’t hard at all unless you are going for the challenges. Bond was much harder during it’s shootout sections than any level from WOA.

You didn’t discover the gun throwing technique then.

When you throw your gun at an enemy and then use takedown on them, you’re invincible for almost all of the animations. So for the large fight moments, you can just spam this over and over, barely take any damage and easily take them all down first go without firing a single shot.

I did discover that, but that feels like an exploit more than what was intended. If you want to count it though then sure.

Yes I know what you are all saying. Maybe I should change the title to bad game design instead of easy difficulty? They are different but overlap. Some examples I found

More than one instance of just being able to run to the exit door (cutscene) through prob 10 guards and still make it out ok.

the boat chase with the barrels. I literally did it without firing a single shot neither at the enemies or barrels, it really was pathetic.

The way when you bluff a guard it also bluffs people around him and again you can basically run through the area. Too much bluff available also my meter was always full lol
