Elusive Target #17: THE BROKER (Year 5: 14 - 23 February 2025)

Hopefully they Galore the Year 4 ETs at the end of this year. :crossed_fingers:

You mean something like ā€œif you miss an elusive target you automatically fail the next three of them even if you don’t play?ā€

That sounds more like something Patrick_McColloch would suggest.

Oh, I didn’t read all the way up, just what @schatenjager said.

Hello Broker, nice to see you again.

This is probably one of the better Paris Elusive Targets, primarily because neither objective weighs down the other in terms of how you approach it. Getting to the Ivory White is surprisingly easy with the tools we have now, but opening it does require a bit of a guard pacifying rig-ma-roll (Bubble Queen, my beloved). Dalia’s room is also legal to walk around in (though the guards are still enforcers), which is not something I expected. Not hard, not easy; just the right amount of challenge.

I still like Moxons’ overly-British personality and his ties to Sergei Larin also make me happy as a lore buff (if you didn’t know, he’s waiting for Larin to pick up his phone and the latter is not doing so…Gee I wonder why?). Moxon is fun to listen to with his limericks and goofy and stuffy behaviour, and his relatively simple routine actually makes isolating him quite easy as he spends a lot of time outside at the bar.

Curious sidenotes:

  1. The Goldbrick did not play well in this contract, as the noise it generated appeared to distraction-ate some people either outside or the tech crew on the first floor. IO, pls fix.
  2. There’s a room on the first floor that’s just four camera’s pointing inward. While I suspect this is a leftover from development, it seems a bit strange this has never been removed.

Here are my, somewhat outdated, thoughts on The Broker that I did as a part of my ET review series back in 2022:

I still think he’s excellent, and I don’t dislike killing him, so that’s something. Asides from the oddities above, my only criticism is that he isolates himself far too frequently, which kind of makes him a bit trivial to kill in some respects. I don’t think that takes away from the contract too much, but it’s worth mentioning here.

No Roadmap Elusive Targets certainly didn’t help.

Fried him. No more witty limericks from him!

About two years ago all the hours I’ve spent in H2016 played a bad joke on me - I got literally screwed by the functioning mirrors.

Then I missed him on Year 4, and now finally got a chance to redeem myself. Considered not breaching locks with a crowbar and taking the key from Dalia’s office instead, but now that The Broker is the only ET that I straight up failed - decided to not be a smartass and focus on setting up a safety hazard without frying myself.

If I’m not confusing this target with something else, if you stalk him long enough he has a pretty long route all the way to Dalia and back to the ground floor. Probably gonna wire him on the Year 5 rerun which should be pretty soon.

Friendly reminder that Year 5 version is available for 10 days, starting today. Good luck, everyone. :slightly_smiling_face:

Did a weapon lure, head shot him in the basement hallway, but forgot he’s tailed by a guard. Disconnect. :unamused:

Rinse, repeat. But brought in the sedative egg for the guard, head shot again. Then had to wait for Dahlia talking to her buddy to get the egg.

I guess I’ll just remind him that smoking near propane tanks is very bad for health as usual.

Gonna be the electrified puddle for me.

Used the emetic gas grenade which caused him to go to the toilet, flooded the toilet and then detonated the micro remote taser. 5 star Silent Assassin!

And done. Sizzled and fizzled. Flawless. Did it in reverse order this time by taking the egg first, then frying this creep on my way out.

So I’m gonna stop explaining in detail how I did the ETs and how I feel about them when I’ve already completed them countless times (unless someone asks me to), gonna do short explanations from now on for them: SA/SO, used the lure method, micro explosive on the car and egged the guards to get the egg.

So no one sees me when I KO Moxon behind that thing, but when I garrote him - they do? I’m not too worried about this run since I already have a clean SASONKO of him, but still a shame. Avoided practicing in ETA to keep it old school, but gotta start doing that.

I remember him going upstairs at some point when I played The Broker in H2016 via Peacock. Either I confuse him with another target, or they changed that.

Drowned him after throwing durian at his feet. Even if it is good ET, I’m kinda tired of seeing all ET’s being released in repeated platform. Why couldn’t they mix it up with more overlooked ones is beyond me.
