Elusive Target #21: THE EX-DICTATOR (Year 5: July 18-27 2025)

Good stuff! Whilst there certainly was a lot of dialogue at the table, most of it was just Richard and Inez sharing the same lines or the waiter going “Very good indeed!” instead of “Ah, very good.” so it didn’t really matter to not include it all (although I think Richard does comment at one point that it seems they’re just repeating themselves). I tried capturing all the dialogue myself and spent about 3 hours listening to the same lines over and over again at that table. There were also unique lines from Diana if you take them down individually in either order. Definitely one of the more interesting targets dialogue-wise.

Thanks. Yes, capturing dialogue is an incredibly time consuming process. All together I have 7 hours and 7 minutes of raw footage, and that excludes the time I spent waiting or exploring the best position to stand and how to avoid enforcers and overlapping dialogue from nearby NPCs.

The dialogue at the dining table was quite annoying because it is an example of the randomised splicing dialogue that IOI seem to like. I can see why they do it. It makes the whole experience from a player’s perspective feel more real and organic, but it’s a nightmare to capture. In this case, it is composed of the following sections which I named: where’s the food, waiter excuse, response from Richard or Inez, choice of dish, waiter’s response, I’m heading-off now.

For example,
Where’s the food (Richard): “Are you stupid? Where is our order! Waiter get over here!”
Waiter excuse: “We are expecting a delivery momentarily, but I’m certain we can tempt you with one of our delicious specialities?”
Response (Richard): “By all means. After all, I’m sure it’s very good. This.”
Choice of dish: “Very well, bring us the poached qualis eggs with scallops and caviar.”
Waiter: “An excellent choice!”
I’m heading-off now: “I have something to do. I’ll be back shortly. Make sure the food is here!”

So every time I do dialogue videos I collate all the dialogue in a grid and ensure that I capture one line from each possible representation. Each time they come back to the table it will randomly splice together one from each slot, so you can get repeats often. Add to this the problem that the number of responses in each slot are not always the same; e.g. there are five “Where’s the food” lines, but only four “Waiter excuse” lines.

Plus they either both arrive from the bar area, or Inez comes from the bar and Richard comes from the adjacent room. I had to put the lines together as authentically as possible to match where the previous dialogue took place. Phew!

Which is funny when you compare it to the last video you did on the pharmacist, which only has two conversations of dialogue and a few lines from Diana.

A few days ago, I started a #TeamNoRestarts run. I lost SA right away when I inexplicably punched the bellhop in the face instead of subduing him from behind, but whatever. I spent a decent amount of time scouting the targets. I managed to isolate and knockout Inez’s guards, then coin lure her to the ground floor bathroom and drown her. I puke-briefcased Richard and one of his guards and was following them to the bathroom, maybe for a kill, maybe to knockout the guard.

That’s when my game crashed.

So I spent a couple of days being annoyed and decided, after some minimal scouting, to just do this.

I bet the punch wasn’t a glitch, the bellhop turning at the last nanosecond was a “trigger event” resulting from your starting to push the button to subdue.

Wait it ends on the 22nd?
I thought it was 26th
I’m in France until 23rd this is annoying because I really wanted to do this target

Bit of a stretch
But does anyone know what time the elusive target ends in British time on the 22nd?
Because I’ve been told I’m getting back on the 22nd just unconfirmed on the time we get back
Just hoping we get back before the ET ends

Runs until 29th August, so you’re definitely okay.

EDIT - sorry, ignore that tweet, thought this was The Chameleon

EDIT 2 - The Chameleon went live at 2pm BST today, so reckon you’ve probably got until 2pm on 22nd August for the Ex-Dictator

Wait really?
But it said here that it ends 22nd
I’m really confused now

2pm BST is British Summer Time - BST is currently 11.33pm as I type this in the Home Counties if that helps you calibrate for you.

This ET was just bad luck for me (funnily enough it’s the 4th one I did in H3).

I’ve tried to find any opportunity to kill them during their route and the only one was while they were at the table: couldn’t shoot the ceiling lights and I got spotted whenever I tried to push the dictator.
Then I’ve tried doing something more creative by trying to kill the gold digger by routing her to the bathroom on the first floor with the seiker: for my first attempt a NPC came as soon as I knocked out her guard and in the second one she decided to go to the kitchen.
Then I was like “ok let’s to the gun trick to lure them, I’ve never done it before”: I ended up electrocuting myself instantly and alt+f4 didn’t save me (but at least it worked).

I am so bummed.
Also is it just me or the AI is reaally weird in this ET, they sometimes panic while you have your gun out or trying to shoot while not seen.

Yeah, for instance when I was trying to kill the Goldigger after having killed the Ex-Dictator, she kept moving to the restaurant and back to her seat over and over, never to the garden. I eventually used a propane tank with an EMP to explode them. I prefer not using explosive methods but it was the only way I could see without doing lots and lots of testing.
