Elusive Target #24: THE APPRAISER (Year 5: August 1-10 2025)

I still remember the time that The Politician Elusive Target ended two days earlier than it was supposed to, and to this day, that specific instance of The Politician was never re-ran.

I’d say that was taken down for legal reasons or a cease and desist order on behalf of Hillary Clinton but I doubt that cause if that were actually true then The Politician would’ve been removed from the Arcade as well.

I personally don’t agree with that because then why was The Politician allowed to be in Hitman 2, then brought back several times in Hitman 3/WoA?

I’m pretty sure it was even re-ran in Year 2 (maybe Year 3 too, don’t remember) at least one time since it was ended early. It’s just the specific instance that it ended early was never re-ran.

That was the initial H3 activation of the ET in 2021. The in-game timers for the mission were accidentally (I assume) set up so it didn’t match the duration given on the roadmap that month.

The comments in the thread for that ET say that the mission timer started at 8 days when the ET went live rather than the intended 10 days. So it wasn’t just randomly pulled early without any warning whatsoever since the in-game timers were at least giving people a warning as to when it would go.

Anyway… Back to The Appraiser and the still missing (!) challenges…

I see that the Mission Clear Challenge and SA Challenge for the third year of appraisers have not yet been implemented.
Will they end up not coming this time?
It is also unfortunate that we are not getting any response from official support at all.

With the challenges missing this long now it clearly shows that no-one from IO even plays their own game. Even if they didn’t see the post from the community you’d have thought someone from the company would have seen and reported it.

They should’ve assigned ONE set of challenges per elusive target regardless of year. If not for having to do Silent Assassin over and over again for the same target I would’ve been able to use a less subtle approach for targets I already took care of before such as giving them a Napoleon Blownapart or taking them out with a golden AK in front of dozens of witnesses provided I had a guaranteed escape route I could slip into before the guards could gun me down.

Yeah it’s kinda concerning that those challenges still haven’t been added to that ET. I hope it won’t become a habit, this kind of thing happening once in a blue moon can easily be dismissed as an oversight, but twice in a relatively short time span is starting to feel like they don’t care at all. Is everyone on vacation at IOI or what?

I think this is the first time you’ve said something I actually agree with. Well done!

I just don’t get how they forget to add challenges to ETs. They’re pretty much the only “new” content they had to worry about adding in the May patch. Surely it’s as simple as copy/pasting the data from Year 2 and slapping Year 3 on it?

I think it’s the third time that happens this year? But the first time it still isn’t fixed one week later, I believe.

I remember this happening for the Deceivers but which was the third one?

I tried looking for mentions of missing challenges in older threads and couldn’t find anything, so it’s quite possible I was just mistaken, actually. My bad if that’s the case.

I’m not certain whether I can be around to play this ET before the deadline so I’m just gonna play it now and hope that the challenges will be unlocked for me retroactively like they’ve done it for people previously. It’s a shame this keeps on happening!

To be clear, the challenge that is missing is just for completing the Elusive Target (and doing it Silent Assassin). The only rewards would be experience points right?

The Collector - Year 2. It was the only occurrence during Y2. Didn’t happen once during “Y1”.

I’m starting to wonder if IO are even aware of the missing challenges this time - since usually by now there’s been some sort of acknowledgement and the challenges are added by now for some people to complete as per normal.

Well, got to assume those Challenges aren’t coming until after the ET window closes now (if at all), so just bit the bullet and did a bog-standard oil leak fire accident kill so that the SA challenge ends up popping if they do choose to award them retrospectively. We shall see…

Yeah I gave up waiting and did it too. Now It’s just a matter of waiting for either Clemens or Travis to load up the forum and hoping they decide to click into this thread to find out what the go is with these challenges. :frowning:

Honestly, I won’t mind if the Challenges never show up at all - like you, that will leave my completion at 100%, and I don’t mind if that’s with or without these Challenges. The nightmare scenario is that they retrospectively add the Challenges and then somehow mess up the retrospective completion of them by players who fulfilled the SA requirements. (I’m sad enough that I went to the trouble of screencapping my final rating scorecard at the end of the mission in case I need to include it in a future Zendesk ticket as proof that I got an SA rating, haha!)

If it’s done how I think it’s done (by pulling data from the leaderboards and awarding the SA challenge to everyone who got 5 stars, then the other one to everyone who’s on the leaderboard) the risk of not getting the SA challenge is extremely low, and they could just do another data pull to award it if somehow it didn’t work the first time.

Assuming, of course, they’re aware of the issue and they intend to fix it.

This was annoying. Getting the notebook took some trial and error, for sure. The run has a fair amount of ledge walking… zzzz… boring. I wanted to start on the pier and exit via helicopter, but the timing didn’t work out. It took too long to get to the notebook, and then too many things could go wrong, so I needed to cut that time down. Then, when going to get the flare, a technician NPC with a clipboard kept spotting me as I scrambled on pipes n’ ledges ™, so I decided to forego that route too.

I also tried starting at the keep and working my way down to the pier, but again, this route didn’t satisfy my Hitman Flowstate needs.

I’m not unhappy with this run per se, but it does lack flair and ultimately was a chore to pull off. Regardless, the personal self-imposed challenge is no match for my superior skill and patience.

Edit: You’ll note, no challenge chu-chunks at the end. I am 100% sure they will retroactively add them.
