Elusive Target #25: THE BADBOY (Year 4: November 22 - December 1 2024)

Forgot he was going live. Felt a little like a chore to complete… Still wish IO hadn’t mostly copied and pasted the Y2 ET roster for Y3.

Or at the very least left The Badboy in November as per the 2023 timeline posted alongside the Spring Roadmap and still given us The Fugitive this month as planned instead - since at least that was an ET that hadn’t been seen since “Y1”.

Also more fun figuring out who the target is, gives you some time to enjoy playing it. Plus, as I mentioned before, more fitting for a Halloween-themed month.

But that doesn’t follow your RULES, no?

Parameters, not rules, but yes, it does.

The bullets don’t sound like your parameters. You’re leaving evidence.

Well, first of all, that’s what I did last year, not this year, although it was only marginally different.

Secondly:

Avoid shooting objects; not do not. I have things listed in the parameters that are absolutely not to be done, and they are described with “do not,” and others that can be permitted in extreme cases, depending on how the mission allows certain actions to proceed, and they are described as needing to be “avoided,” meaning whenever possible, but can be allowed when it’s not possible to avoid.

In this scenario, to prevent myself actually going beyond my parameters of perfection, small sacrifices have to be made, and firing a shot to detonate a fire extinguisher in order to blow up the target’s car “accidentally” is unavoidable. Still keeps the possibility of evidence being found to a minimum, because only one shot is needed to set off a fire extinguisher, and of course -

I got it. And I like you for making that reference

Also, this song slapped. Just thinking about it put a smile on my face.

Ok, over and out.

What the fuck!

I’m testing the ET out, trying to figure out a plan, crouching with a propane flask in the trailer while a guy outside smokes a cigarette, and we both blow up.

This is very annoying.

What the fuck. I hate that these things happen.

Oh No! Sorry about that mate. I can feel you pain all the to Denmark. I hate when something like that happends. You can get him in Arcade mode, but I know it not as rewarding as a ET kill…

The target’s bodyguards are INDISTRACTABLE so don’t even bother trying.

The trick is to distract the target. The bodyguards follow. Bump into one of the bodyguards so he stays behind when the target and the other bodyguard return to their little corner, and get rid of the bodyguard when you’re alone with him. Rinse and repeat until the target is all alone.

Of course you gotta careful bumping the bodyguards because I had the bodyguards in the twins ET become enforcers for my suit when I bumped them too much.

Clever meeting with him, only one of them is alived
Or on official server: poison him by Sieker + his assistant, assisnat go to down up, argus go up on another level, pacify his bodyguards by Crowbar and break his neck

Welp, I did The Bad Boy out of obligation, but nonetheless, the mission hasn’t aged all that well.

I appreciate what they were doing here, trying to make an opportunity a mission story or two for Argus. The wrecked car route is strange, as there’s no obvious way to kill him after he checks on his wrecked car (he goes to urinate near the cliff, but you have to KO people nearby first, making it annoying). Stranger still, not being able to use the car as the way of killing him is a missed opportunity for some dramatic irony.

The poison route is probably one of my favourite ways of killing him, primarily because it rewards the player for learning which bottle is Bosco’s and which is not. That allows more experienced players to flex their knowledge (or hell, newer players to replay The Icon to learn the ET).

In my 2022 Elusive Target video series, I put it in the middle of my tierlist; Not good, but not bad, and that still holds true.

The thing that stops it from being S-tier or outright good is that this target is static until you intervene or wait out an arbitrary loop, which is annoying and makes the target linear to play.

Hope everyone else had a fun time with this one, because “meh” describes it for me. If anyone’s wondering, I just threw an emetic grenade to make him sick outside (itself annoying as several people are nearby and you have to KO his bodyguard, so timing is crucial).

Also, strange side-note, I apparently hadn’t done “Hold My Hair” on “The Icon” before, which is not something I expected to Ping, as I’m reasonably sure I did this for Argus in ETA. Ah well. Not complaining too much. Seeya in a few days when we talk about the human dirtbag that is Wen T’sai.

Excuse my ignorance as I haven’t experimented or waited enough. What do you mean by “or wait out an arbitrary loop”? Does the target eventually start moving on his own, after some arbitrary loop? I did not think so, but also I haven’t looked into it fully.

He will eventually meet with Bosco after about ten minutes or so of playing Kane and Lynch, bit like how Nila Torvik meets with Dalia in Paris (though the latter is considerably faster).

Other than that, he plays Kane and Lynch unless you blow his car up, and as I said, even that’s not desirable.

I tried to optimize a bit from the Year 2 run.

@Dribbleondo Thanks for that info. Also I think if you sabotage the set, he’ll come out, right? That’s what I was trying to figure out when I blew up in the trailer, which was BULLSHIT. I almost never play the Icon so I just never remember how to sabotage it.

@Syndicator I will watch after I’ve attempted no Loadout SA SONKO in the arcade and on my alternate account. But if you’re anything like me, you figured out a way to accelerate Bad Boy’s exit from video games, you threw a propane next to the generator, you distracted three people and you got the target to blow himself up. Because I cannot think of another way. There are no car batteries or firearms in the level, making a propane explosion quite difficult. Or maybe I’m very far off the mark.
