Diana is clearly offering out these Freelance hits, such as ‘The Drop’ and 47 is taking up these contracts, effectively making him an Agent abiding to a contract.
And the only reason why the Drop is so much more detailed and precise in the contract terms is because the client was able to name the actual target, whereas with the rest of the freelance contracts, nobody knows who the main targets are, just their codenames, and so Diana offers up the entire syndicate itself for 47 to take out. The Drop is still likely part of this period, and possibly the start for reasons stated, marking the last of their work, for now, that Carrie’s the same feeling of their work with the ICA.
Yeah that’s true. Although ‘The Drop’ contract is post Hitman III, we don’t know how far this is into 47 and Diana’s Freelance work? My guessing, by the way of the contract, it looks to be pretty far into their work.
I’m suspecting it’s the first job they do after joining up because of it’s different presentation than the freelance contracts; like Diana stops using her usual style after this one because there’s little point with the ones that follow. Her presentation of Berlin as a familiar place suggests it’s the first time 47’a going back to it since Apex Predator, and with the subject just under discussion, her usage of the term “agent” in relation to 47, suggests it’s the start of their new arrangement. Only theorized of course, but it lines up pretty well.
Yeah after you’ve put it like that, it does line up pretty well to be fair. Would be interesting to see if we get new Elusive Targets in the future which have been reworked, very much like ‘The Drop’, that are around the post Hitman III timeframe.
So anyway doesn’t it feel like there should be an organic way to get the target to go peek down the elevator shaft? Honestly I’d expected a Kick To Death By Gravity to be one of the main kill opportunities.
In @Euler13’s Dialogue video for The Drop, they emetic poison the cocaine and during the meeting as Rolf suggest Dimitri try it out. He then gets sick and starts puking over the elevator shaft. This is very likely the intended way to get Diana to comment on “your sense of humor”.
It’s funny, I tried getting this across in my original comment, yet it got flagged for being off-topic.
I find it very interesting they set this post-Hitman 3. There’s a lot they can do now to the levels in a sense, such as redoing locations (or parts of them) to make them feel more unique to play. I really hope they continue this trend of revamping locations partially for ET’s, as it makes for some nice lore building and new gameplay twists.
There are a lot of places in the trilogy which would be interesting to see what they would be like after the events of the main story. What’s Viñedo Yates like after Don Yates’ death? What was done with the high-tech ICA Facility after the ICA was exposed to the world? What happened to Rangan Tower or Vanya Shah’s Train Yard after their leaders were killed? What happened to Colorado and Ambrose Island after the Militia left?
There’s a ton of potential for further worldbuilding on these missions and maybe even exploring some unintentional negative consequences of 47’s assassinations (like how Héctor Delgado is apparently even worse than Rico was). However, if they ever make more missions with bigger changes to maps like they did with The Drop I’d rather see them done as Special Assignments or full-on bonus missions instead of just ETs.
Finally trying this… 2 things I’ve found. The guy in a black colored shirt and balaclava that is (said to be) calling the Liability ET… In that short hallway near him where you can climb a ladder… You can’t climb through a certain (window?) that you can in the normal mission. You can see the concert below through this (window).
I threw a coconut at the drug dealer. It only knocked him down as if I threw an apple or muffin at him.
This one was super cheeky. They put a knife right under the vodka bottle so you have to make sure your prompt is on the bottle and not the knife or you’ll get compromised.
Going for the 3rd restart… Trying to find something interesting to do with this.
Edit: Re: the coconut not knocking the drug dealer out. I did have a banana in my inventory. Maybe I selected that by mistake.
Is that the one I’ve marked “A” or “B”? For “A” I think it would make sense as someone would be a lot more likely to see you if it was still open. Unlike the main mission, it also leads to mostly civilian areas so it’s a bit redundant - interesting change though.
I’m pretty sure you don’t mean “B” but if you did it worked fine for me
Took my time with this one. I had wondered if I was disguised as the drug dealer if (the target) would confront me or if there’d be some kind of interaction. No. But you can interact with his bodyguard.
Disguises used: Bartender, Hirschmueller, Biker, Personal Bodyguard, maybe 1 or 2 others.
I picked up about 3 Vodka bottles.
Side note: When I watched this ET on Twitch (to get the suit) I jokingly suggested that you get him drunk and let him drive home. SA
I did smuggle in lethal pills, and was only able to poison the cocaine as Hirshmueller. I (still) don’t know if there’s a way to get him to snort it.
I ended up emetic poisoning his drink, then fiberwired him (where he goes to puke). I almost thought of dumping his body, but that crate can be seen by anyone on the other side. So I left him lying where he was, then exited via the basement. Only took 47:32.
Does it still work if I were to emetic him from a distance, say, the spot where he stands when he goes back there to look around for the owner, before resuming his walk?
I don’t actually know I only saw that from someone else’s run personally I killed him by throwing a flash bang next to him and tossing him of the railing he starts next to I’m sorry that I can’t help here
According to the girl who gives you the tour it’s made from modular blocks that can be disassembled in a few hours, so my guess is that it’s just become a big empty area not very long after 47 kills his two targets :x
It would be so cool to see further missions reworked to fit the post Hitman III timeframe, very much like ‘The Drop’. Like others have pointed out, it’s looking likely this was one of 47 and Diana’s earlier Freelance hits, so others may very well follow, especially if IOI see this recent ET as a success, which we all know it has been. Like you’ve pointed out, it would be cool to have future post Hitman III missions added as Bonus missions or Special Assignments instead so we can go back and continue to re-play them. I do really now want to go back and re-play ‘The Drop’ because I felt as though I didn’t explore the new surroundings as much as I could as I didn’t want to mess it up and fail
