Elusive Target #27: THE DROP (Year 5: March 13 - April 5 2025)

The fact that this late into Hitman 3’s life cycle they’re willing to make a celebrity ET which will bring more attention to the game could (keyword: could) be an indication that they are planning to still do other larger content additions to the game besides just the one challenge/unlock a month and escalation they promised back in Spring.

IO still have Hitman listed on some of their job openings, and I am gonna foolishly expect that major DLC is coming up.

If IOI doesn’t add some of his music to the mission it’s gonna be a huge missed opportunity.

(but I know how annoying including licenced music in videogames can be legally, so I don’t get my hopes too high up either :/)

I’m sure there’s something in it for Dimitri like his music being shown off or an original track for the game. Especially if they’re promoting it at his own concert.

It does make me a little worried with its longevity since licensed music has always ended in a game just, disappearing due to lawyers after a while, but we’ll see what happens if it happens…

Wouldn’t be surprised if all that was in it for him (besides a payday) was just more people knowing who he is. I’d never heard of him prior to this.

Which poses the question…

  • I had heard of Dimitri Vegas prior to this
  • I hadn’t heard of Dimitri Vegas prior to this

Considering IO now has 5 studios with only 3 current (publicly known) games active I’d like to hope there will be more continued WoA content.

Or at the very least, they’re conceptualizing what’s next.

The post says that the reveal was dropped during an interruption do Vegas’s set, does that mean that this announcement was made in the middle of the performance, up on the screens and everything? If so, think we’ll be able to find footage of audience reaction?

Honestly , yeah, it’s probably also a great way to get his image out there.

He was in the recent Jurassic World and Men In Black films according to wikiPedia. Thats big.

He was also apparently a DLC costume in MK according to Ochoa, which is also big.

I’d assume he must also be a fan of those things, but it doesn’t seem like to me he’s totally in it for the acting gig…
But maybe he’ll have some fun with this ET thing. He’s literally agreeing to a virtual murder of himself lol

But the most important question of them all is will Dimitri Vegas have the power of invisibility?

Geez, this feels like it has AI mimicry all over it…

If IOI really did some OpenAI stuff with this face, that’s incredibly disappointing.

They have tons of original models of 47, can’t they just… rig one up for 10 seconds?

I imagine the game still has legs that surprised IO, hence why we’re getting content like this. This is content I’d have expected last year, not nearly the end of this year. I really thought we were getting bugfixes and a few Freelancer updates as they’d call it a day.

I don’t even know how this works… did he bug IOI to become an assassination target or did he one day receive a phone call from a somber Dane : “Hello sir, we would very much like to virtually kill you”?

If I had to be in a video game, Hitman wouldn’t exactly be my first choice.

Dead by Daylight neither :

I’d love to be graphically murdered thousands of times in a variety of ways, personally

From the looks of it, the trailer was made in-engine, certainly the background and the final end card too.

No clue what they did, you can see very very slight similarities to the normal H3 model, but I have no idea what happened.

I suspect the default facial animations (which are automatically generated based on levels in the audio) looked pretty bad especially on a close up of that scale (a la Ambrose Island briefing), and they didn’t want to invest the time in tuning them up (like they did for the in-game cinematics for the story). So they just did… well… this. Whatever “this” is.

I don’t know… the face looks way too round. And the way the mouth moves in relation to the face, just… feels like those AI “fake moving face images”. It’s uncanny.

I will say that the music is really good. They nailed that “drop”

chicken groovin’ out in the club tonight :musical_note: :man_dancing: :chicken: :musical_note:

I mean, regardless if you know him or not, dude seems pretty famous in his specific niche, and doing pretty well for himself. Also, obligatory “I can’t believe we’re getting a new Elusive Target!?!” statement.

I hope he’s on Ambrose Island. Giving The Drop the drop from the light tower in the pirate base would be poetic.

Good news is this means more Jane Perry in a briefing video

glory to Jane Perry

I’m surprised and kinda excited for this ET, I wasn’t expecting any new ET’s at all, let alone a celebrity one at that!

I’m just hoping his mission will have similar gameplay with The Undying such as unique kill opportunities (like how Faba had the pen kill and android kill), interesting dialogue, and a few map changes.
