Correct! There isn’t any bluffing in railroad baccarat so no need for Le Chiffre to have a “tell” it’s just arrogance and luck and, if you believe Bond, some gut instinct. You can’t fold, you can’t raise. You just bet and then do the best you can to make 9.
When they swapped Chemin de fer (railroad or iron road baccarat) with Texas Holdem for the film the game now was significantly different and they needed LeChffre to be able to fake a “tell” to push the story line. In the book it’s just Bond believing he’s god gift to earth. In the film he wrongly listens to a fake friend about how to read his opponent.
In both Bond is out of money and the CIA buys him back in when MI6 won’t and tells him they don’t need the money back which is how he becomes so wealthy. He wins with American money and doesn’t have to return it to the English treasury. So CIA is the real hero of the James Bond books
Bond villain’s also tend to have a trait that makes them stand out, like No’s mechanical hands or in the novels Blofeld had black irises. The Fleming novel he had red hair, false teeth and large ear lobes but small ears, he might’ve also been overweight? Can’t remember, could be thinking of the Welles’ version. So the movie invented a cool scar to make it more Bondian, as the description used in the novel is too OTT to fit any Hollywood actor and Mads is too handsome to fit the description without heavy makeup and prosthetics
A happy glitch happened to me on the ET this time around! The long dialogue between Le Chiffre and General Murillo didn’t play for some reason so the start of the mission was blissfully silent!
Last time I followed the story with no loadout, this time - SASONKO, fiber wire, default loadout. Also gave Smith a hand with the optional target.
If you ever try this approach (better not), keep in mind you’ve got about a minute after whacking Le Chiffre before his body gets found. It takes ~40s to get to the basement exit.
SA/SO NKO, sneaked to the 3rd floor through the library (and threw my briefcase downstairs), emetic on the dealer, Remote Micro Audio Distraction on the poker chair near the bar, emetic on the static helicoper guard, used the distraction and sniped the chandelier (takes around ~8-10 seconds after he investigates)
(The gif is heavily compressed because I had a hard time getting it to less than 8mb)
Found this method while testing how to get him under the accident isolated I figured out I could use the audio item since only he goes there to investigate (once you remove the dealer) and it’s less risky/reliable than coins. Also the sniping spot is different from the base map, probably because of the table.
Same drill as before, only this time I used the signature suit with gloves, and I used the antidote instead of letting the basement scene play out. I also dropped a chandelier on the optional target for an accident kill, so that when Le Chiffre is killed by Murillo, only one official murder has occurred and it can’t be pinned on me. Flawless.
