Elusive Target #36: THE INFILTRATOR feat Bruce Lee as your partner (25 September - 20 November 2025)

I believe the weights bug with Xiao Hu was there pre-update too, iirc.

She probably gets properly checked out when she’s called to fight and doesn’t come?

I’ve noticed that a number of the civilian NPCs have broken hitboxes on their heads and shots go straight through. It appears to be newer ones that were created for this ET.

Two more runs after the update.

Notes:
• AT LAST! That bullshit point of no return on Level 2 was fixed. It doesn’t lock you out of restarts anymore once you see a target.

• No mess with the dialogues playing all together. Diane ain’t yappin’ in your ear as much when others talk.

• The neck snap as a captive now actually works. For the research purposes, I didn’t hide the body - after a while it was found and failed my SA(the mall ninja vid). Don’t do that, drag the old fart to the closet.

• The BOAT doesn’t glow in instinct anymore, but you can scan it with the camera to get an intel with a clearer hint for the safe code. They should’ve kept both, 'cause why would I even point a camera on that thing, but far better for the non-English folk who have a different word for boat.

• When you check in with poisoned Lee, it gives you an intel hint which tells you what you can do to help him win the fight. I think it even popped on my screen automatically once, when I was outside the event area. Good stuff.

• Also, if Lee’s drugged, you can see in the objectives how many rounds left until Lee’s next match.

• IIRC they considered adding a free guard uniform, but I haven’t found one.

• Banana KOs on targets still alert everyone and void SA.

Some other stats published recently:

I wonder how the ET went for the game.
Contrary to the previous ones, IOI did not communicate a congratulatory ā€œhere is how many players went into the game during itā€.

And if I look at the steamdb charts, it was the first celebrET without a noticable change in concurrent player count.

I think the week-end before the release was equal to the inaugural one, the week-end after did went slightly over it though.
Hitman even had its first ā€œunder 1500 concurrent playersā€ since at least Y4 during it.

Finally obligatory reminder:

:police_car_light: The Bruce Lee Pack will be de-listed tomorrow. :police_car_light:
If you wish to purchase it, do so quickly.

With the DLC being de-listed tomorrow for whatever reason, what are your predictions for what will happen to it in the future? IO have just said that it may be available in future mission re-runs

  • The Bruce Lee Pack will eventually be brought back permanently
  • The Bruce Lee Pack will return, but only for a few short limited times
  • The Bruce Lee Pack will be gone for good

I’m leaning more towards gone for good, cause it seems like a hassle to have to enable and disable a DLC on every platform’s storefront whenever The Infiltrator comes back as a mission (assuming that The Infiltrator ET itself will even return)

That’s surprising, I’d have thought this would’ve caused an increase in player count from new people experiencing Hitman for the first time through it. Maybe the celebrETs don’t have the same draw power as they used to? If they ever did.

Me too because they’d presumably have to get the Lee estate’s permission all over again, and I doubt that’s cheap!

Pack gone for good.
ET might be coming back.
Arcade will be like the Disruptor. Sans-going-to-the-back-in-shame, maybe.

I can see a future pack of the items, safehouse goodies, and suits and nothing else of those two though.
I could see them being fair to sell right-wise.
And if it’s both of them, 6 items, 2 suits, and 10 safehouse cosmetics it would be equivalent of previous Cosmetic Packs.

And the empty safehouse panel, and safehouse cosmetics, would be a good incentive.
Cal it ā€œThe International Fighter Packā€ or something.

They definitively did.

CelebrETs did more than just make the game player count jump, sometime double the concurrent one.
They on-boarded new players / reinvigorated the present ones, and rose the average player count for months onward.

This one seemingly didn’t.

Not enough to say if its for celebrETs-as-a-concept, or just this one-for-itself, or the concept of Elusive Target and Arcade in general, or just the time of the year, or the mission / objectives, or Lee public affect, or because previous ones depleted the reserve of potential newcomers, or the novelty passed, or a fluck, or a pattern.

We will see this winter, and the next one.

I think a big factor might be because it’s not Bruce Lee but rather a separate voice actor, whereas the other ones were actually played by their celebrity. The mission pays great respect to Bruce, but it loses some of the novelty the others had.

I believe the pack will return sometime, It will be stupid to rerun the ET without releasing the pack again. They have to get permission from Lee’s state anyway so they might aswell release everything. Besides, IO wouldn’t let go any opportunity to use FOMO to squeeze more money from their players.

Regarding the ET being less popular, maybe it’s also because newer generations are less familiar with Lee, he’s been dead for over 50 years after all.

I know there’s a Steam DLC for V Rising that only gets activated around Halloween and is unavailable for the rest of the year so it’s probably not that much of a hassle for IOI to set up something similar. Of course, this implies those were the original terms of their contract with Lee’s rightholders.

Perhaps because this one was the first one to have almost no promo? Le Chiffre had a platform at Summer Game Fest and JCVD had a trailer release a week before. Bruce Lee kind of just… came out

The reveal happened in the Xbox Tokyo Game Show Showcase.
Under the now usual ā€œavailable nowā€ tactic.

This was a celebrET that I personally didn’t care for very much. Whether it returns or not, I’m indifferent. For one thing, it was on a notoriously annoying map, Bangkok, and we weren’t there to eliminate the ET in the first place…this game is called hitman not helpman. I still helped the dude out because I’m a polite hitman, but come on

It wasn’t awful by any means, and there were some fun elements to it like replacing Lee in the tournament, but as it is I’m not even compelled to finish his level in the Elusive Arcade. Probably an unpopular opinion.

It’ll likely reactivate at some point though, don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t. (unless licensing is too expensive?)

I wanna see a Polite Assassin Suit Only (PASO) run  no rude things like explosives or loud noises, all bodies hidden, nothing that spills blood, and the targets get 6-8 weeks notice and the right to appeal their contract

No bombs, no knife,
We swear we won’t swear,
When we take your life

I would like the changes to Bangkok to be imported and made permanent in the base map, e.g. the extra ledges, terraces, and additional exit.

The Bruce Lee DLC has disappeared from stores everywhere except Steam.
Steam will probably remove it in about three hours too.

My goodness, I am very glad I decided to check my Elusive Targets sub-tab in the Career tab of the very intuitive and newbie-friendly Hitman:WOA UI, because turns out I hadn’t completed this ET yet! I’ve just played around in the Arcade a bunch, forgetting to actually do the main mission.

Anyway I don’t love this mission. I find the target kills kind of restrictive. Mid-tier mission for sure. The patch improvements are solid though.

Took some time tonight to get this ET Done. Why not check it out for the novelty of it.
I know very little of Bruce Lee films so I don’t think I caught any references whatsoever. I hope those who are had fun with that though.

So, the mission itself:

  • Makes the cardinal sin of having a timed insta-fail condition randomly jumped upon you in the level.
It was really annoying to deal with, and thankfully I looked up if it WAS going to fail me.
This is the first contract it seems where 47 doesn’t have to kill a main target, just needs to help someone else do it, and if they don’t then its game over. Feels SUPER weird…
  • I was going to think that even if Lee loses the tournament, the mission would shift to just focusing on the Main Target. Like, hes still there, 47 is this killing machine… but nah, you HAVE to keep Lee in the tournament or it’s over. That’s kind of disappointing.

(Like, Le Chiffre had a whole fake-out ā€œ47 gets lethally poisonedā€ but that just leads to a new kill opportunity. With this mission, it’s a disappointing difference.)

  • Has a pretty cool restructuring of the Queen Suite. Lots of public guests and guards up top, didn’t have time to figure out how to best get into the restricted areas (without cheesing it like luring a guard in to fetch me and I take him out)
  • I like that the devs managed to get some sort of tournament-style mission logic implemented and you can even change around when/who fights in whatever order. That must have been challenging.
  • Couldn’t figure out how to get Weight Lifting Guy to move away. The Lady fighter kept harassing him to move on, but he never did. I tried to ā€œassistā€ him, but standing there for over a minute didn’t do anything…
  • I found this tied up guy, knocked him out and stole his clothes, left his body to be found – and weirdly enough, since he has no other purpose than to be a hostage – once he gets woken up, he changes back into his hostage clothes, and *sits on the same seat 47 can, effectively merging as one… I get the weird game engine logic (or lack of it because he’s a special NPC) but like… damn… very odd he can’t just… hide somewhere else.
Ended up being weird when I killed the Dragon and he also merged with hostage guy in the chair lol.

  • I also like how as long as you disrupt the 3 competitors of Lee, the mission can end early.
I wanted to see what would happen if I faced off against Lee in the finals as that one Masked Fighter, but I’d already played the level 4 times and was frustrated with waiting, infiltrating, and getting compromised a lot. Ah well.
  • I assume you can even do a No Kill run, if you just Delay each of the competitors enough to be disqualified for not showing up on time for the match.
  • The Shirtless Fighter guy with the fugu kill was pretty funny. He talks a big game about having this exotic, dangerous, illegal food, takes one bite and immediately drops dead. No choking animation or anything, just dead. Lmao that might be a bug but that was funny.
  • Also I found the fighting minigame to be cool but kinda janky. The timer to choose is Really Quick. It takes like half the NPC’s animation/timer to figure out what move to use, and I could only make it like 2 rounds in…
I wonder if David Bateson recorded new shouting lines for the fight because his ā€œHah! and Hyah!ā€ Lines seemed new, I don’t know where else he’d exclaim like that.

Overall, cool mission with level changes as usual.
Sucks its limited-time (and SUPER limited time). Also sucks its forced into the ET mode because it could do with the ability to save to avoid waiting or annoying failure timers to contend with.
