Elusive Target #39: THE HERBALIST (ft. Snoop Dogg) (27 August - 27 September 2026)

Yeah, I know that part. I’m just trying to figure out a way to get him down to the farm without taking the tour or the gun lure. Does he go down to check the crops if you destroy them before killing hin?

This one reminds me why ETs are such a terrible idea and why I hate them so much.

I tried to do the story path, now I’m sitting there, getting offered cookies, Diana says “might be poisoned”. So what do I do?

Quit the mission, look it up online. Because maybe they are poisoned, maybe I need to find an antidote, maybe I could die, maybe I could fail this single-try ET bullshit and that’s the end of the story.

I’m playing video games since the 90s and with the exception for microtransactions I have never ever, not even close, seen a worse idea than single try missions in offline single player games. I just do not understand how they could have survived for ten years now.

(And yes, there is the Arcade. And you can look up things. But both are necessary workarounds because iO fucked up so hard.)

Well, it’s also a legitimate Special Assignment mission, meant to be played as part of the actual game outside of both standard ET and Arcade gameplay. You could start there.

As far as I know, the tour is the only way to get him down to the farm outside of stuff like gun lures. Disguising as Gunk and taking the tour gets you all the way to the A Personal Blend kill. Returning the invitation to Gunk has him go on the tour, which proceeds in much the same way (just with some dialog from Gunk), but it ends after the tasting room part: Gunk refuses the tasting and leaves immediately, then the other two then do like they do with 47, leaving no one to get the offer.

Cane does remain almost isolated in the room at the end of the Gunk-tour, but one guard (IIRC the one who moves around in the Secret Room) stays with him the whole time so he’s not completely alone for a kill opportunity.

When I tried it, he ran to the Secret Room, had a bit of a freak-out there in front of the monitors, then went back out to the party, telling the tour guests that the tour was canceled along the way.

That’s what I saw too. He only goes to the hidden security room, freaks out at the monitors, and then returns to the party. I supposed you could take out the two guards in that room and then knock Cane out there. Then you could drag him down the stairs to the farm, but he’d be unconscious when you got there and I don’t know what good that would do you. I take it you really want to do the conveyor belt kill but suit only? I don’t see that as being possible.

It doesn’t have to be suit only, I’d just like him to walk down there. There’s plenty of acceptable disguise opportunities that don’t violate the HPP in this mission, so I’m set there. I suppose, if I could clear some of the NPCs with emetics and bananas and such, I could drag him to the conveyor from the secret room, it’s not like anyone would see him walk there anyway if I cleared witnesses along the way. I may attempt it. If not, I can make do with the grill kill to adhere to the HPP. It’s the only propane kill in the game for ETs that doesn’t require you to throw or shoot them to start a leak first, you can just rig the grill like with the oven and gas heater for the Procurers.

Everyone calls Cane whenever something is happening, why not add a walkie talkie or something to call him and tell him that he has to come down and check the machines?

We have the Helmut Kruger mission story that includes calling Dalia Margolis, Sapienza has the RobertoxFrancesca mission story. You can call Sierra Knox over to the medical area in Miami, just to give some examples. There’s always at least one way to isolate a target or make them move to a better assassination-and-hiding spot. Cane has the balcony behind his office, sure, but… I dunno.

I do not think you can kill him with the conveyor from a drag. He needs to be standing up.

No, there are no other ways besides those you’ve described.

You can’t do the conveyor kill with unconscious NPCs. You’ll have to use coins to lure him in front of it.

Done.

Damn. Gonna have to try it the hard way.

He does know, but he does not think that those workarounds negate criticism of the main problem

You clearly dont know about the free special assignment versions you can play

I quite like the way it is now honestly. Now that you can practice freely on the assignment, then do it a bit more high stakes with the Arcade version, where there’s no retry. And then the actual ET is a bit of a final exam to prove your mastery of the level.

Finally sat down to play it yesterday, and was amazed at the amount of detail they put into giving Haven Island a new life. Such as new NPCs, little drones flying around, and the complete renovation of the basement with the servers. I like that they referenced 47 having been there prior as well, so there’s some attempt to fit this into the WOA storyline, somehow. This is a contrast to most elusive targets, since we’re just meant to ignore the fact that everything is the same and pretend that this is a random new location 47 is being sent to.

That being said, I’m not that familiar with Snoop Dogg, so there’s probably many things that went over my head. But on a surface level, he seemed like a believable enough target. I only did the tour mission story so far and I feel like they could’ve went a little harder with the kill animation for that because he just lays there on the conveyor belt after getting skewered. Not asking for a ton of gore, but it didn’t seem like it killed him. Erich Soders’ death had a more gruesome result with a similar kill method so it’s not like they’re above showing that type of thing.

Still had a fun time with it and there’s obviously more to explore. Seems like this is one of the best ETs they’ve put out in a while in terms of effort.

Reposted this here because I accidentally put this in this wrong thread before :person_facepalming:

You have to wonder… With the introduction of Special Assignments, is it really necessary for these to even be activated as Elusive Targets anymore?

Just launch a F2P period on the Special Assignment (and if its a new one, launch the Arcade contract). These really, really do not need to be in the Elusive Target container anymore.

For some reason this was added to the security room near medic

Files list it as Kashmirian’s rifle

I actually spotted this a few days back!

At least this one tries to keep to the post-game timeline, unlike The Wizard/ Disruptor, which has numerous contradictions.

The H3 CelebrET’s have otherwise generally been pretty good at maintaining canon, which I do appreciate.

Also, happy birthday!
