Elusive Target Arcade

I disagree on that. The Tregetours allowed me to reuse strats I had used in the past without any variation whatsoever which made it a breeze to get through each level with five stars.

The Thespians required a few minor tweaks on the first level (and a radical change for The Entertainer) that I would say it was the one that wasn’t as easy because I couldn’t just let my brain switch over to auto-pilot. But the fact I actually had to stop and think about it made it the one that was more fun of the two I found.

Mr. Giggles prime (casual, not speedrun) strat

Summary

is to make him sick with sieker or emetic grenade. double back to the cafe, set out grape bubble-gum :grapes: :smiling_imp: for the gal… Then get him :hocho: while he’s throwing up in the bathroom… Or leave a :boom: :duck:, then head for the exit, detonate a couple meters before, then exit.

I got gunned down after sniping the Colorado guy that’s in the house. I mean, I shot him unnoticed… Body got found… Then I had to make my way into the house. I made the mistake of getting the gate key by the communications area when a guard turned around and spotted me. I didn’t even need the stupid thing.

If they ever make that target suit only and no KO’s - that’s gunna be ridiculously difficult.

There’s a really easy to access propane tank near the main suit entrance for the level, before the main entrance to the castle area with the bar and stage (the one with like six guards), there’s a pipe you can climb up to that’s next to the area with the security room, right next to the pipe you climbed there’s a propane tank.

You can throw the tank down to the bar area if you wish to continue on that way

Evan easier method for the lady with the guest list is to use the snail / goldbrick proximity mine, that way you don’t have to risk someone else taking the gum

I guess this will be a feature not really relevant to suit only players. :sob:

Well I brought the banana I earned in the Tregetours to the Thespians thinking “I’ll just make that idiot slip, get his stupid recorder then blow up some propane instead of waiting 12 hours for the guards to clear the body and being able to pick up that useless item”. Obviously it didn’t work since banana KOs on targets make you lose SA (I totally forgot about it even though someone said it again earlier in this thread). So I had to do replay this one twice.

Apart from that I really liked those two ETAs.

Chameleon was a nice challenge, I didn’t remember you couldn’t use the hacker disguise in this one so I did it with the generic militia, which was more interesting than the usual 2 minutes fart bomb SASO on Ascensorist and ID Thief.

I usually hate Entertainer (mostly because of that guest list bitch) but this time I actually really liked the mission with that complication, I found the flow really good and it gave me a few ideas for contracts.

More Explosions Only please

I wanted to do a cool kill for the Entertainer where I trigger his lockdown, wait for him to stop panicking, then drop the chandelier, which falls into the overflowing pond, electrify the puddle, which would trigger the propane flask to explode, making him fly into the pond.

I did it the first time flawlessly unrecorded SA, then I did a second attempt recorded and everything went HORRIBLY wrong… :sob: :sob:

Anyone else notice that the last patch has stopped the red “Non-target Killed” XP notification appearing in the Arcade? Such a weird issue because it still seems to appear in all other game modes…

Is ther someone els who thinks that Elusive Target Arcade are very boring? We are repeating always the same ET, like The Stowaway. Now I hate Jimmy Chen more than anione else

I somewhat agree, you have to add your own challenges but the additional complication may interfere. I would have preferred some sort of hitman roulette with them.

Honest to god question, how many people actually replay ETAs?

  • Yes, I constantly reset and replay majority of ETAs
  • Yes, but only some ETAs (e.g. the ones with better restrictions)
  • No, I don’t replay ETAs at all (if it’s done, it stays done)

I am definitely in the first group since ETAs allow me to do something different in the maps outside of the main story. However, some of the targets are reallly limited even without the restriction (e.g. The Appraiser or Jimmy Chen) and I don’t look forward to replaying them anymore.

I also wish that Special Assignment targets were added to the ETA pool to increase the amount of maps available (Miami and Mumbai specifically)

I reset them quite frequently, it’s currently my main way to play the game.

Half of the time, it’s mostly to have a go, chill at the maps, without having to do an entire main mission. Most of the ETs are 10-15 minutes long at a normal pace, which is what I currently want. And they are more interesting than contracts (for me). They also have more dialogue, lore, purpose. Which is what I like in the game.

The other half, it’s to try new methods, since during first completion I tend to stay on true and tested ways. Sometimes it makes me discover new eliminations (I didn’t know you could serve fries to The Censor, the same with The Stowaway, I never registered that The Politician eats peanuts, …). Sometimes it makes me try eliminations I would never try normally (The Bad Boy’s car, waiting for the Liability to go into the club to take him out with the light show, some SASO…). And sometimes it’s to try them non SA (RFID explosive, sniper elimination, lethal stealth, …).

It honestly renewed my interest in the game.

Sometimes I use it for try some trick to use in the properly ET reactivation (like I’m currently doing for the upcoming Appraiser reactivations), but for the rest, I agree with @Bardachenko, I found ETA boring and repetitive sometimes. I didn’t even unlocked some of the rewards yet.

ETA was definitely improved since its release, but it still not my cup of tea.

I only replay the ones whose restrictions still allow me to play the way I want and achieve SA five stars.

I (obviously) would still prefer my idea for the ETA. If by some astronomical chance IO would… be inspired by it - perhaps they could call the current one ETA Classic, and (“mine”) ETA Freestyle.

I do replay the ETA, but mainly certain ones. Like if it has a target I enjoy. The Isle of Sgail ones are  . If there’s an instafail restriction… Well, I might not play it, or I’ll just remember to be careful.

Occasionally, I want to replay some Elusive Targets, but I use Peacock for that.

Peacock allows players to pick a specific ET and it doesn’t have arbitrary restrictions. It basically brings all the freedom, that regular missions have, to Elusive Targets.

It’s so much better than ETA, in my opinion.

That’s nice. Modding is maybe the only reason I miss PC gaming.

It all depends on what ET is where, what the restriction is and can i be arsed to play it

I play ETA only for unlocks.

I have “Offline Elusives” mod for replaying. It lacks unnecessary features (escalation-like multiple levels, complications and penalty for failing) while also giving me the ability to save.

I can easily give myself my own set of complications rather then be limited by the ones we get.

I wish IOI could give us a mode like that next to ETA.

The Arcade is usually my go-to way of replaying the ETs, even though on PC I could easily use Peacock. Most H1/H2 ETs are extremely basic and somewhat boring in their original format once you’ve played them more than a few times - the Arcade adds another layer of challenge that at least tries to make them more interesting to play.

If they had just given us perma ETs instead of the Arcade, by now most people would never be touching them. Just look at the low numbers of people that actively play the Special Assignments (and those that openly brag about never touching them either) given that those were originally ETs. The idea of having permanent access to ETs in their original format and the reality of having them are quite different, which very few people seem to realise - they’re just looking through “we don’t have it” goggles.
