Feedback and Suggestions for Hard Mode & Prestige Mode in Hitman Freelancer

Instead of the mandatory prestige objective, which I think is awfull and is the main reason I don’t play hardcore, they could have done a “notoriety” system similar to Blood money’s. The higher your notoriety, the more cameras and enforcers there´ll be, along with extra assasins and lookouts for showdowns. That way players will have to be more cautious in hardcore, in contrast to the messier playthroughs that usually happen on standard mode. They could also add ways to reduce your notoriety by paying merces, like in Blood Money, and make them more expensive as the campaign goes on.

Freelancer in general needs more ways to spend your money besides buying weapons, they tried to fix this issue with the prestige system but I think that’s a lazy solution. They could add the ability to start undercover, stash an item/weapon or get some pre-mission intel by paying merces, maybe make this options a bit expensive to prevent players from using them in every mission and then make them even more expensive or straight up unavailable for hardcore mode.

This is how i always play except i add suit only as well. Even if there are side objectives like snipe 3 guards, i kill the guards with an SA/SO mindset.

i also thought they should have made HC a full SA mode or add a SA mode where you have to get SA for every mission and losing SA fails the campaign like HC.

I actually like the sound of this. Hopefully Freelancer gets some further love and attention as we go through 2026 :crossed_fingers:t2:

Prestige mode needs to do more to be worth it. The classicballer should increase in rarity with each prestige milestone at a minimum.

I really like that idea, but I guess too much work to be done at this time. As it is now, the Hardcore/Alerted Territories are just the Maps from the Master Difficulty in the game. They didn’t have to change anything, because it was already there. I guess, to add one camera, guard, enforcer etc. at a time would need more effort than that and I’m not sure, if they would do that by now.

Are they even still working on that mode by now? It came out 3 years ago than Prestige was added a few months later and that was about it, wasn’t it? Except of course for the stuff that comes with the ET-DLCs that you can hang on your weapon wall or decorate your kitchen with or whatever.

But yeah, making missions progressively harder depending on the way you play would be great and much more fun than either pretty easy Standard or forced Hardore with nothing inbetween.

In general, we need more ways to expend our Merces. I would like to suggest the option of buying smuggling points for as an extra way to bring more weapons and tools after we hit maximum capacity to carry in the prep work.

Also, Couriers during Showdowns could carry intel instead of merces. Said intel could be more specific information on the Leader’s appearance or making Lookouts show up in your map.

I never bring back the dart guns back to my safehouse. That way I can always buy during a mission so I don’t need to worry about they using inventory space, plus they become a way of always having use for my Merces.

That’s actually a pretty good idea (assuming you’re talking about the regular dartguns and not the ones costing thousands:D), although if you’re restocking the tools after a loss it can sometimes take a while for them to appear.

The ones from the normal tool kit. The special editions of all the tools (dart guns, crowbar, lockpick and coin) I have them all in my safehouse since they aren’t very disposable.

Another cool idea I’d love to see added to Freelancer

It would be nice if Prestige Level 15 would add three more inventory slots …. maybe 20 could add an additional three. It would be a nice reward for people who play a lot of Freelancer.

Just a lil’ something from my experience: for your Freelancer tools, only buy stuff like the crowbar and wrench and all the distraction items. Leave poisons and explosives out of it. This way you’ll always have at least one dart gun avaible with the merchants and also will find useful stuff in the random boxes.

Does wonders to have extra options in Hardcore campaings, specially in Showdowns where you have the luck of being able to confirm your target through one of the dart guns or emetic poison objectives.
