Freelancer - General Discussion

Wait, Heisenberg wants the tactical turtleneck with gloves and no hat?

Jeez, he could have mentioned it.

I really like the one With the hat, but to each their own.

I also really like the Ancestral Hunter suit but I wish the boots weren’t rubber.

Gimme the Maldives swimsuit with cowboy hat, rubber boots, and mittens, and I’ll be happy.

Just completed my very first Freelancer speedrun. Pretty happy with a sub-40 minute time. Also I found this exit mission screen mildly amusing…

Why is a vacuum available to turn on and why is it illegal to turn on? Is there something to this?

It’s fer immershun

Also the scalpel in your own infirmary is illegal to pick up. I don’t think the golf club is, though.

I thought there was gonna be suit left behind penalty. Is there and I’m missing it?

Would have been good that we can lose suits if we don’t bring them back as well and use merces to buy them back. But always have the default suit for each location so we still have something.

Every time I think of the potential that freelancer had, I get sad. :frowning:

There is not. You are not missing anything.

There is a ā€œonly one disguise changeā€ objective, that would become suit only / lose your suit under those circumstance.

Timed disguise wouldn’t be fun too if you had to loop back to the start every time. In general having to loop back every time would get old fast.

I think it depends on which weapon you choose first that will get the briefcase.…I think. Cuz I choose the sniper first, then choose the oil canister and when I start, the sniper is in the briefcase and the canister is in my hand.

So did you choose the bat first then sniper?

So, I’ve played a dozen or more campaigns now and this is the first time I’ve seen a suspect wearing body armor. This turned out to not be by target, but I was curious if the body armor would actually make him more resistant to bodyshots like armored guards are or if it’s just cosmetic.

Why do I start a new contract in the campaign, and some of the maps are already alerted, when the previous map and contract did not raise an alert?

Did anyone ever get a blond target?
I got red, grey, brown, black and bald, but never blond.

Best explanation is that I can think of is that because the four Syndicates you select are working together and have links to one another (as per Diana’s dialogue that plays when you complete your first ever Syndicate) - word is spreading that Syndicates are getting eliminated and so the alert slowly gets raised.

Yep, had multiple Blond leaders in my playthoughs.

Can someone understands the ā€œperfect mission bonusā€ (2500XP) award?

I thought that you must complete in a single mission all objectives (the three optional objectives AND the prestige objective).
But I’ve recently done two missions where I didn’t complete all objectives (I failed one paid objective) but I was awarded the bonus XP. I checked and the failed objective was shown as failed (written in red).

Is it a bug or is there something that I don’t get?

Given that the Freelancer suit selection is tied to what suits you have unlocked and available in the game as a whole, I think this would be a bit difficult to implement…

Like thrison mentions, it’s because the four syndicates work together, so word gets out if they’re getting knocked out. And it’s also a means of raising the difficulty bar as you progress through the campaign.

Honestly I can’t remember which one I chose first, it was ages ago since I now ignore the bat prestige objective unless there’s a bat to be found on the map :x

Well, frankly, that’s bullshit, because IOI only ever said territories get alerted when you raise an alarm or get compromised. They never said anything, as far as I recall from any info given about the mode, that you’d have alerted territories the next contract you pick regardless of whether you raised an alarm or not. If that’s the case, there’s no reason to even bother trying to be stealthy in a showdown; the next contract is going to have alerted territories anyway. Might as well just snipe all suspects from a distance and be done with it. God, they’re pissing me off with the stupid decisions they’ve made on this. That original announcement video was like typical advertising; much better than the actual product you get.
