After ^that win, I stayed on HC. Got back up to Colorado on the 3rd segment’s showdown. I killed the Leader, then proceeded to try to get some numbers for that ‘Burning Man’ challenge. I gotcooked a good number of NPCs, until an assassin ultimately killed me. Such a risky move to jump that fence and hide in the grass just to get closer.
Starting again. The very 1st takedown was in Mendoza. I get caught trying to dump a body over a ledge by a guard coming down the stairs into the theatre area. Shortly after a gun fight ensued with the predictable outcome.
Maybe it’s (or was) time to take it off HC Mode before I start losing too many weapons.
I lost my Seiger 300 Advanced, ICA19 Black Lily… And a couple other weapons, I think a baseball bat, and… (can’t remember).
Anyone else haven’t even touched the post freelancer featured contracts? I’m so hooked on this new way to play the game that I haven’t looked at them - I used to do them as soon as they were released.
And I keep forgetting about the elusive targets because they’re hidden away in a different tab…
I haven’t done featured contracts since the last time they had unlocks. Unless that happens again, I have no use for them, Freelancer or no Freelancer.
I’m doing them to keep the number of unfinished featured contracts at zero. I like seeing that “nothing to do” in the live tab. It means I’m up to date.
I’m still waiting as impatiently as before for FCs. I enjoy both contracts and Freelancer but play them in a very different fashion. I see contracts as puzzles, where getting SA is completing the puzzle the way the creator intended (or close enough). In Freelancer I pretty much never care for SA unless it’s required by an objective, and I often like to cause as much chaos as possible, blowing up cars, kicking people into the water, etc. Basically I play FCs for the challenge and Freelancer to relax, so they’re completely different experiences and it’s great that the game is able to deliver both.
There’s too many FCs unfinished for me to ever catch up for no payoff other than doing them. They don’t even get marked off on your challenges completed after a certain point. As far as I’m concerned, with no unlocks, they’re nothing more than IOI endorsed normal Contracts mode entries. No desire to do them.
My main focus on Hitman is currently playing Freelancer, but I do complete one or two of the new Featured Contracts when they arrive, just as a way to say I’ve done a few as part of the roadmap month drop
This is the basement entrance door to the murder basement in Whittleton Creek. If you blow the door out with an explosive it if possible to hop down from above and become completely trapped with no way to escape. Why would you blow out that door? Well, it’s possible for a safe to spawn right next to the door inside the basement. I blew out the door with a remote bomb early in the run and then came back later when things had cooled down around the house to pick up the loot. My mistake. It’s stuff like this that makes me wonder why we need to Alt+F4 the game to reset things. Just put a “Restart Mission” button in the menu IOI, please. Also remove the always-online requirement from the game. This always-online horseshit is just ruining the fun.
While I’m on the subject of weird glitches, apparently showdown suspects are immune to canon fire?
I spent a good half hour setting up this kill, got a phone from a non-leader and placed it in front of the canon (I don’t have a photo of them moving directly in front of it but they did). When I fired it, neither one got hit. They just compromised me for doing an illegal action and started fleeing.
From what I understand, the cannons work by just blowing up fixed spots - in the case of that cannon I assume it’ll always hit Caruso’s garden even if someone’s in the way.
Something super weird happened to me. I was doing a showdown on an alerted map (bank), got a ko’d suspect found by another suspect and they all began to flee, I couldn’t catch the target so he escaped. It was time for me to leave the mission. I did and the main game options of restart or replan popped up. So although I got the campaign failed ending after exiting, I was able to play the contract again but I lost all my gear.
I would have had I not been an idiot. Found the target in a room with 2 other ppl. All I had was a hammer. So I was just gonna close the doors and ko all of them then neck snap the target. Lo and behold, as soon as I ko the first npc, assassin walks in and shoots me dead.
I really wanted to know what would have happen if I passed it.
I haven’t touched any Y3 FCs too. Though even before that I wasn’t very interested in contracts.
Also I’ve been generally feeling Hitman burnout for the past few months and mostly moved onto other games. Nowadays I usually either play the current ET or do a few casual Freelancer missions if in the mood.
FL’s improvisational nature just feels more relaxed, compared to contracts that a lot of the time have some sort of intended solution that I’m often too lazy to try to discover/execute correctly.
I’m thinking I’ll take a look at my achievements and progress on them (those that are cumulative) and track them on some graph paper. See where I’m short/low on things and try to build those up. Or if I’m close on certain ones - maybe finish those up.
Of course, most challenge types are bound to different campaign types. I’m not a fan of the loud firearm challenges, haven’t killed very many with push/falls… And no telling what else I’m lacking on.
Maybe this way I can focus on things I don’t like, get them out of the way, then focus on what I do like.
