Freelancer - General Discussion

No wonder I forgot that one. Only experienced it a handful of times and then never again. :joy:

Anyone else think that space under the stairs on the main floor of the safehouse is totally wasted?

I still want them Trinity Weapons for that open wall space near the other Weapon walls

Well, a month and a week after doing the Progress Transfer, therefore wiping all my prior Hitman 3 progress, I am once again at Mastery Level 100 in Freelancer!

I’d forgotten just how enjoyable unlocking new things for the safehouse was, I honestly would love it if they added 20 more Mastery levels with additional unlocks.

This time around, I already have 5 Prestige levels done! The Merces rewards for Levels 69, 79, 90, and 99 didn’t go to waste this time either. I was determined to Prestige again before reaching Level 99 so for a while I had to balance doing enough objectives to get enough cash without doing too many and getting too much XP. I managed to Prestige with only about 15,000 XP to go to reach Level 99. I only succeeded thanks to getting the Silverballer and Merces from the secret chest outside.

The only Merces reward that did go to waste was Level 59, since I had gotten everything by Level 51 but couldn’t Prestige until Level 60. But hey, only one wasted is better than five!

I honestly think I can still achieve the goal I set a few months back before I did the Progress Transfer: have Freelancer 100% done by January 26 before it turns a year old!

You got through all Mastery Levels in just over a month?

I was playing Freelancer regularly for the first several months it was out, and still dabble in it a little now and then, and I’m still only around lvl 70(I think?)

I got through level 100 in less than a month when the mode was initially released, but it burned me out on Freelancer in general for a while and I regretted rushing through it.

Very impressive! Didn’t get burnt after some many times?
After reaching level 100, I didn’t play Freelancer again for now. Kind of exhausted for repeating this mode.
I went back to regular missions to refresh my game :grinning:

I’ve often posted on the forum about this and I think it would be great if IOI extended the mastery levels another 20 or so. I’m sure there’s other cool ideas IOI can think of for 47’s Safehouse like more items for the gym, garage, outside area etc

Just wanted to show what I’m preparing for. Might take a few days to prepare, but as the saying from the movie The Killer goes, if a challenge is not worth taking, then this work is not for you.

I take my hat off to you with this!

If you’ve practiced it in the main game, Arcade mode and in contracts mode, then you already know the safe areas, and you know what to do should it look like you’re about to fail. Otherwise, vaya con dios.

I know Colorado very well. It is my favourite map due to the tension of playing it SA/SO. This is a challenge of insanity for me but I’m all for it.

What I’m planning to do:

Loadout will include kalmer x1, Seiker x2, Krugermeier, lockpick and maybe a chloroform (and whatever i can take that makes sense)

Plan is to get a suspect’s phone and draw the target to me.

I’m really aiming to get SA/SO so even if it takes me an hour or more, I’ll be as patient as i can to get this completed.

I might bring a sniper to analyze the suspects from afar just so i can carefully lower my suspects count.

I also plan to NOT restart, even if a bug occurs. I’m gonna play it as it goes.

I’ll post my results when i do this.

Was with you up to this point. There’s no glory, satisfaction, dignity or pride to be found or had in going through all of that and losing it from a simple error when a means exists to learn from and correct your mistakes before it’s too late. We don’t get that in life; don’t squander it in the game. Do all that you said, sounds like a good plan, and if you screw up somewhere, start again and fix it.

Respect!!! :pray:t2: :clap:t2:

Well to be fair the whole ā€œone mistake and it’s overā€ is part of Freelancer’s core gameplay (and pretty common within roguelikes), and there’s some kind of thrill about being able to complete runs without reloading or save scumming :x

(Weirdly when I’m all for this kind of design philosophy within roguelikes, and by extension Freelancer, I absolutely despise how it’s done with ETs since you cannot start a new run with the same parameters if you fail them :x )

And that’s one of its biggest flaws.

Sure, same as you get in the main game. The problem is when you don’t complete them, and it penalizes you beyond requiring you to start over.

No, that’s just one of its gameplay elements. If you don’t like it, you can Alt+F4. It entirely fits within the expected definition of a roguelike/roguelite.

You don’t get to call a gameplay mechanic a flaw when it’s clearly intentional and you just don’t like it.
