Freelancer - General Discussion

Hard agree, Colorado was never a bad map, it just came at the wrong time, it’s very unique, and is no difficult than any other map, you’re just punished more for playing recklessly. And that’s assuming you’re playing suit only, which to be fair, is a bit of a slog, but once you get a disguise it’s pretty much like any other map. Haven’t played in a showdown so maybe I’m wrong.

The GTA Font is a nice touch ngl

If you play Colorado as an alerted showdown, then yeah, I can agree with people finding at annoying (it was my first campaigns final mission so I can definitely relate) due to the mechanics smothering you. But in any other respect, even alerted leaders, tend not to pose problems.

Same goes for 2016 Colorado. Those complaints still hold true for that specific variant, but again, this was fixed years ago, and I feel like it’s a grudge at this point.

The best advice for people playing Freelancer who hate Colorado is:

  1. Don’t ever pick it as a Showdown level

And..

  1. Don’t ever pick any version of “Silent Assassin” as a Prestige objective (and if SA is a regular objective, ignore it).

The massive amount of blood splatter coming from 47 jeeeeezus :cold_sweat:

What kinda mod does that?! And why??

What a weird way to spell “silenced SMG”.

On non-alerted, a Kalmer does fine too. Three guards on the roof beneath the water tower on alerted though.

That’s because it doesn’t spell “silenced SMG.” What in the hell good would a silenced SMG do in that situation?

Nah, need to save that for later in the mission in case it’s needed to isolate the targets.

Well, you see, in the Hitman games you can use weapons to kill people.
It’s effective.

(I know why you are saying this, with your HPP, but if I see an opening, I will run into it :p)

Silenced smg, because killing guards is a way of distracting them from life.

Ok, even setting aside the HPP (which I’m not even following right now until I build up my arsenal, unlock all mastery, and earn a sizable amount of Merces for recovery), shooting the guards on top of the building when starting from the water tower is a dumb move. The people below can see you shoot them and hear the bullets hit things and come investigate if you miss, so a pistol or sniper rifle is better, for one. For two, if they’re not your target, or you don’t have a kill X number of guards objective, even if you are ok getting spotted shooting the guards up there, extra bodies decreases your mastery amount, and every bit counts as we try to build up.

All true. But I like it. And never had any issues from it.
(the sound design, and the slight revenge on those NPCs from my colorado sniper assassin run helps to make it satisfying)

In other news : Hardcore Mode completed.
(bonus Melon Man challenge completed with the last showdown : prestige of “legendary headshot”, it was the Silverballer appropriately enough)

It was hard, I already knew of the Master Mode adjacent implementation (reaction time, and no disguise from messy elimination), and the higher number of suspects (9-9-12-12).
But I was surprised by the lack of tell icon.

Did all the showdown in Mendoza or Dubai as a consequence. Easy path to staff disguise in both case. Even if Dubai made me spawn on the scaffolding near the sleeping guard once to lure me into a false sense of security. A lookout walked in ten seconds into the run. Luckily, the alerted syndicate was not my target’s.

The prestige objective were not kind, I had three “SASO, SA no firearm, or timed disguise” in a row in the last syndicate.
Mumbai under a time limit was strangely both not fun, and made on first try.

One highlight : Katana prestige in Paris, entry point on the barge sniper nest. One target in the garden beneath. Managed to lock in them from the starting point. A magnificent throw.
(another target was on the Auction Balcony, which helped even more)

And now, to never touch it again.

I love how everyone’s reaction to hardcore is “I did it for the trophy, now never mention it to me again.”

Best of luck and don’t go bald from the anxiety.

Yeah, That isn’t a great sign of being made well if i’m being honest…

Hardcore mode, sure. I did it for the trophy and never again touching it. But Freelancer itself, I’m addicted to it. Love it.

It’s not balanced enough - prestige objectives leave you choosing between hiding in a cupboard every two minutes or doing the entire thing silent assassin suit only - there’s no incentive to do it.

There’s absolutely no reason why you’d do hardcore mode other than the trophy. I’m sure it’ll change once IO look at the stats and see people did Hardcore mode until they completed it, then never touched it again.

I have a question. How can i get the trophy of a specific syndicate (i mean the trophies unlocked that can be found inside the basement)?

You need to complete the complete the x group 10 times and you’ll unlock it
