Honestly I can see Challenge Packs coming back through Freelancer. Would make the “Kill X Target(s) with Y object” a bit easier to work with since you wouldn’t need to grind story missions or need a specific contract from contracts mode.
Would also be an easy enough way to reward people with extra themed customizations that we’ve seen in the trailers, but just aren’t in the game right now.
After I died on Alerted Colorado in Level 2, and just died to a Level 1 Dartmoor showdown, I leave you with this fun bit of videos tonight I forgot to post:
Probably my greatest perfect run mission ever (minus the first 10secs)
And also probably the greatest Hostile Zone suit start
i screwed up badly. i was trying to sneak into the house’s washroom to prepare for when my target got sick, but i got spotted by a lookout. i moved fast before the target could escape. my heart was racing.
i managed to take out the final syndicate leader with the assassin pistol from a very long distance. it was a huge clutch moment
Lol nice one. Just did a clutch in a showdown in Whittleton as well, it was also the last one with 9 targets. Got caught by a lookout in the garden party because an NPC was blocking a doorway and I couldn’t get in. The two networks that my target happened to not be in were alerted and most suspects started escaping but the real target was having a nice secluded meeting in West’s bathroom so I went there and shot them both before the business network would have been alerted too.
I have a confession to make… I don’t know how to effectively use the remote audio distractions and at this point I’m almost afraid to ask. Why would I ever use them over just throwing something?
You can trigger them from far away to lead NPCs to proximity explosives or some similar trap. Although that’s a really niche use and the two phones usually do that better.
I don’t think I’ve used audio distractions myself since playing HITMAN (2016). One advantage I can think of, which I would use back then, is that you can set up an audio distraction with pinpoint accuracy whilst allowing yourself time to get into a better position to set up the takedown before triggering the noise. This is handy for rooms with limited options to hide from the NPC as they enter and avoid being spotted.
The one use I have found for them is not to attractone NPC, but to have multiple NPCs turn around at once.
An example : Landslide. Bravumo is in the restroom, locked. Between two and three npcs are around ready to see you lockpick it. If you go behind them to throw a coin, by the time you arrive at the door one ids going, but the others are looking at the door again. If you throw the coin from the door, they see you and just don’t even turn around.
But, with a remote audio distraction, you can do this :
Guys general question. Can I use lethal poison on target and still get SA in Freelancer? It’s described as no body’s found, worked in normal game but you never know.
My first time in Bangkok in Freelancer. Things were going really, really well, and then I absolutely fucked up killing the 3rd and final guard with an SMG. Straight up bloodbath after that (look at the witness count)
Honestly, you should have just killed all of those witnesses. The money and XP you get from completing that objective as well as the “perfect run” bonus from completing all objectives makes it more than worth any merces penalties for killing civilians
50 witnesses killed means at worst a 2500 (50*50) merces penalty, so you could actually lose 1500 by completing that objective, plus the risk of losing an extra 80k by dying. The extra 3500 XPs are not worth that at all, business as usual with “no witnesses”.
Because of this comment, I’ve started to bring an audio distraction along. You’re right! It’s unbelievable! I can distract everyone to one location and then just sieker someone in front of them!
It’s illegal to throw though. Wish I’d known that.
So how did you get Silent Assassin on that? There are feet next to her in the picture-in-picture, so her body was found. In my experience with this mode, found bodies void SA. What am I missing? Is this another bug or can we confirm that accident kills don’t void SA in Freelancer?
