Freelancer: Hardcore mode is unplayably difficult in the wrong places

I tested it the day of release.
So no, I think you could theoretically altf4’d it

If you fail a prestige objective during the mission, you don’t have directly a fail screen. The mission objectives crosses out. Your Merces are taken. The game directs you to exit, but you can do it as calmly as you want. You will be met with a campaign fail screen.
