But playing SA doesn’t reward the highest.
If you will have a optional objective “Silent Assassin” approach, where you will have more money for doing that, that will satisfy you?
SA is IOI’s idea. We played 6 years with this in mind with levels designed around this concept. Now, as you said in a previous post, that is suddenly “old shit”. Now killing any non target with collateral damage not only is not penalized but it means prestige.
But is optional and you can choose to a “Silent Assassin” objective if you will. And I hope that will be always available for pick. But you seems have problem with that - not how now you want to play, but how others should, because Optional SA objective is not satisfy you. And this is wrong.
Neither should it, that’s what the rest of the entire game is for. You can choose the type of contracts you get and choose Silent Assassin bonuses so you always have the choice to make SA the optimal way to play on your own freelancer campaigns.
Hitman is a stealth game above all else. Silent Assassin should always be rewarded, not just on specific contracts.
Ok, so I want to see records how you manage one of final mission of campaign with Silent Assassin rating - where you have enforcers in every corner
What will be next narration? Tune down difficulty because it’s to hard to do Silent Assassin? I bet it will.
So here comes to final conclusions - Silent Assassin is only a optional methodology, where as reward you won’t have alerted missions so it will be easier. No one said that SA shouldn’t be rewarded higher than other approach. But also no one said that should be awarded with more money, it can be awarded in other way = less guards, less cameras, less enforces in next mission is a reward too.
Or maybe a challange “do every mission in campaign with SA rating” (Unlock: T-Shirt outfit with hudge sign “Im a true 47”)
Take into consider.
I was few who did the bookkeeper et SA/SONKO. AND there are many others who can as well. But in doing so, I had no problems with ENFORCERS in every which corner. ![]()
But that doesn’t mean that everyone need to do this as well. Freelancers is a different story because there is a lot of RNG involved. In some situation there is so much enforcers that is even hard to walk around and get close to target.
For example a target who is standing still in one place in the middle of Mumbai street where is plenty of other NPCs. Try do it SA with SO/ no KO’s without have option to use Kalmer or poisons ![]()
BUILDING AND EXPLANDING THE HITMAN TRILOGY WITH AZURE, Christian Corsano, Senior Online Programmer, IO Interactive. April 2022
The always online and use of Microsoft Azure cloud computing provides IOI access to real time player data and ease of regular updates for IOI. It isn’t about DRM.
you can go and play everything else in this gigantic game. You’re again missing the entire point of this mode.
What some of these folks are trying to say is that this mode is missing the point of this entire game, and indeed, series. While I don’t really agree with that, as I can already see how SA gameplay can be applied from its base gameplay even with the changes we’ve seen, the point they’re trying to make is that, by not basing this mode around SA gameplay and then branching out from there, Freelancer is in direct defiance of the entire brand. I again don’t think that’s true, but if it were, their point would be valid. There is not supposed to be a Hitman that is designed specifically for “different” types of players. It’s supposed to be for SA, with room for other players to branch out if they choose to.
Speaking as someone who has never particularly cared about Silent Assassin, I’m glad that Freelancer has rewards for other styles. I never considered Silent Assassin as the pinnacle or something that was even remotely required. Everyone should know my opinion on Suit Only as a play style as well (it’s complete trash).
Having a mode that doesn’t particularly stress Silent Assassin (outside Prestige objectives) and doesn’t care at all about Suit Only is very welcome. Regardless of the rest of the game, or about what Hitman should or shouldn’t be about, the mode is going to be a breath of fresh air for a lot of players (assuming that the frustrating parts are tweaked).
I don’t want to speak for the entire franchise, but this is obvious. The scoring as it is in the trilogy it’s an indication of how IOI thinks the game should be played. Or just look at the video above when the lead programmer says about what is hitman.
I don’t get why this is relevant, it seems illogical. If it’s for leaderboards it’s not important enough to have this feature take away from the overall experience, if it’s for player inventory than it’s unnecessary and convoluted, if it’s for something else than it’s an likely an invasion of privacy. None of these scenarios make this a particularly wise or interesting decision.
I get that getting console updates through can be a real pain in the ass and take way too long to get implemented in comparison to PC counterparts, however it should then at least be an optional or minimal feature that doesn’t detract from the actual experience, more of a background element that won’t be told about or stop you from/while your actively in a level playing the game. Nothing is more annoying than when you are playing a single player game and you are told your connection is interrupted.
Not to mention this feature significantly harms the long term prospects of the trilogy. There’s no way that IO will keep the servers for this stuff running in 10 years, it simply doesn’t make sense financially and isn’t even popular among the community. Just look at absolutions contract mode, they left that high and dry, what makes people think that they’ll keep this going?
Even if they are super committed to it, nothing lasts forever, IO is JUST a company, a million things could happen to them or their infrastructure that could wipe out the servers.
Which is a very silly argument which again just ignores that this is a separate mode that is very purposefully different for a reason. As a roguelike mode with no restarts where you have to come up with a plan on the fly and the target could be anyone in the map, it makes no sense to build it around getting Silent Assassin. Not to mention, this game has a absolutely gigantic inventory of tools and weapons that are not at all suited to a SA playstyle and they’re finally getting some actual use thanks to this mode.
And the point being made is that it should not have been made for that reason, because that is not Hitman.
There is simply going to be a group of people who, for various reasons, will just not consider Freelancer to be a canon part of the Hitman universe. Whether through disregarding Silent Assassin, having no Suit Only objectives, story-mode targets still wandering around, or other reasons, those players will either ignore Freelancer entirely or just see it as a sort of automatic contracts mode.
I mean, people who think that can just not play the entirely free, optional mode we didn’t even know we were getting when the game originally released lol
