I’m just wondering,
when we start a mission, will we get a batch of contracts with, for example, 4 pre-selected (by ioi) locations and then we decide which map we want to play in whatever order we want
Or
Are we able to select any 4 maps we want?

Well then how are ppl getting under a minute at killing her with that hide body complication?
The first one, is what it seems like it’s gonna be.
By being absolute beasts at the game and using all sorts of tactics most players at any level below “mega advanced” won’t be able to pull off? Get outta here with this argument.
I wonder how many people completed the mission in under a minute? I think I did it in around 5, and was still in the top percentile.
i may be late but: hell is hot. take some sunscreen.
After catching up on new episodes of the Blacklist that I’ve missed the past couple of weeks, I’m reminded of another reason why I love these games and why I’m particularly looking forward to Freelancer: all of the campaigns presented in it are like criminals that are presented on the Blacklist, and we get to take them out in order to make money and expand our own “business,” just like Raymond Reddington. I hope there’s decent backstory on these targets and their organizations.
My guess is that you will be disappointed then. It seems very likely to me that most of this will be randomly generated. Perhaps the leaders will get a few written lines in the briefing, but that’s about the extend that I am expecting from how they’re describing this mode.
That will be fine so long as it outlines what their organization is to make it clear why they need to be taken down.
Related to the above, does anybody have any idea or making any plans already about what order they’re gonna tackle this in? I’ve got it all worked out based on the four ways I see this going:
If the campaigns are released/unlocked one at a time, or if at least one of them is present first as the sort of “tutorial” campaign and then you have access to all the rest once you beat it, or once you beat it you have a select group to pick from and still need to unlock the rest, then I’m obviously going to start with that one.
If you have full choice from the get-go, the campaigns are all presented at once, and their arrangement is static - which is to say, the icon that represents the campaign files on the table in that map room in the safe house are always in the same order and placement, no matter how many times you leave and come back; then in that case, I’m just going to beat them in order, starting from the top left to the bottom right.
If you have full choice from the get-go and the order shuffles randomly each time you approach the files, then I’ve decided that I’m going to start with The Gamemaster. I don’t know why, but that’s the one that just leapt up at me from the images of the campaign files on that table, and I said to myself that if it’s randomized and I can pick it from the beginning, that’s where I’m gonna start my freelancer.
If it’s a combination of options 1 and 2, where you have to unlock some but you start with a group to pick from, and the order is static, then there’s really no change to my strategy for option 2, I’ll just go in the order presented after unlocking them, but if it’s a combination of 1 and 3, where the order is randomized, but The Gamemaster is not among the options to choose from at the beginning, then I’ll just have to choose another.
Anyone else planning where they’ll begin, or just wanting to wing it?
I’ll just jump into what looks interesting.
Just my speculation, but I feel like many of the “contracts” are going to be randomly generated, from the titles to the briefings (if any), to the conditions. Doesn’t seem like the kind of mode that’ll have much that IOI manually writes and releases (apart from coding objectives and “rival assassin” routes – if that’s indeed what it sounds like).
Then again, since the mode is gonna start 47 from scratch, probably, I might focus on what might get me the most money. Or check out what the first Safehouse room or Weapons/tools I want to unlock, and put my focus on that.
(so, yes, I’ll “wing it” )
I guess it also depends on how IO are planning to release the contracts for it - tbh I expect that they’re probably going to add them in over time (like the Arcade) instead of just having everything present at launch in one go. So it might only launch with a couple of contracts to start with.
In that case, here’s a different question I just thought of:
What is going to be everyone’s priority of how to spend their money from these contracts? Are you going to focus on buying weapons to build your arsenal? Or will you make the renovations to your safe house first?
If decorating the safehouse has no affect on gameplay and is cosmetic only, I don’t see myself buying a single item for it, so all my money would be going on weapons.
I would go for weapons and suits
Maybe it’s going to go hand in hand. House slots for how much gear you’re going to be able store etc.
I honestly don’t know. I only need one pistol, one sniper, one coin, and a lockpick… not sure what else i’d need.
Maybe 1 poison for more 1m$🤪
I’m thinking that one that was something about a psychonaut(?). I was thinking it was a target in (probably) Chongqing, maybe in Hush’s area with those capsules they’re using for test subjects. Well, that’s what I imagine given its name.
Edit: Also, I don’t see myself going all out on the weapon buying. So maybe my $ will go more towards decorations. I’ll have to wait and see what all the mode offers.
I hope it’s like this. In order to get 50 guns, you’ll need to open up more space in the safe house to store those guns. So there’s incentive to spend money on the house. I don’t want it just so I can have a microwave oven in the kitchen lol
C’mon, even 47 loves the taste of freshly bake Freschetta pizza right from the oven!
