Freelancer - Pre-Release Discussion

Do we already know when it takes place? Is it after the end of Hitman 3? Or is it independent from the trilogy?

This shows up for a split second at 5:29 in the video:

Nice to see there’ll be some sort of harder difficulty for those that want it. I’m curious what that mode will entail.

I would tend to think of it as Hitman 3.5, so… It’s after the takedown of the ICA. The WoA still happened if that’s what you mean by independent.

In 5:14 of the video it talks about safehouse customization, and it looks to be a timelapse. I wonder how ‘Time of day’ will figure in? Will it?

It’s the vacant shop near the church. So it’s in the default map, but not as a starting location

Really? That’s great news! Just submitted my registration now!

I didn’t knew that either! Thought it’s just for Steam, that’s why I didn’t apply  Registered just now, I hope they will pick me and it wasn’t too late

I’m most intrigued by the roles of the various special NPCs, adds way more flavor to each mission.

@Travis_IOI @Clemens_IOI Would it be safe to potentially submit my email to the form twice as I don’t think I submitted it right the other day, or do I risk getting kicked down on the list to get picked?

Freelancer looks like an amazing achievement. It’s a whole new game. For free. Just because.

I’m stoked. We will see when it actually launches, but I’m betting we’ll be saying “well done, IOI.”

Probably nothing, because that’s what it inherently resembles, except that this ends with an Elusive Target, which is what the main difference is.

Not much, but then again, they didn’t give us much.

The weapon showcase is great but I wonder how the weapon variety could benefit the gameplay. Many of the weapons have minimal differences or are reskin. Apart from cost and weight, it would be nice to have other perks added to them which impact the gameplay.

Judging from opinions on here, I was under the impression that Freelancer will be taking place after the events of Hitman 3? Essentially after 47 has destroyed the ICA and reunited with Diana.

Alright then you are offering nothing constructive at the moment if you are just saying the same thing over and over that is apparently obvious. Its a discussion thread, not a facts thread

Well spotted!

In general I love a challenge. I personally I hope we don’t get too many immersion breaking objectives or instant fails for roleplaying.

I prefer if the challenge comes from the world.

e.g. map is crawling with assassins

not, Kill 3 targets with 1 bullet, insta fail

Yeah I definitely think Freelancer takes place after 47 reunites with Diana at the end of Hitman 3’s campaign story.

You keep bringing the same thing up too. Where’s your constructive addition? You don’t have any, because there’s still not enough info about this mode to go off of anything more than what we’re already talking about. What do you think people discuss in a discussion thread? They discuss facts, and what those facts may yield that had not been shown yet, as well as their opinions about them. That was not a helpful thing for you to say.

Re: The Couriers… Judging by how 47 kicked the guy off the ledge in Sapienza - this mode will introduce (essentially) a mugging mechanic.

Are you sure? I’ve been adding a lot of feedback into what I think on the mode, including:

  • my liking of the lack of rating systen, saying it would improve my experience if silent assassin wasnt a requirement
  • a wanting for procedurally generated campaigns
  • speculation on how much is changed and how much i think should be changed when it comes to the maps themselves - for example, i would like targets to be removed but for story based areas like the facility to stay the same
You need to add more feedback into what you think the mode should be in your opinion but you havent

I’m assuming it will have master mode mechanics (that of running being noisy and similar concepts) and also that failing any mission will reset the entire campaign.

Thatd make sense and be a good idea imo because most other modes dont have that as an option and also with the semi-recent additions of master mode changes to Mendoza it makes sense they were implemented to be used here
I would guess hardcore mode also doubles payments on everything with maybe harder objectives - but they already have prestige objectives so most likely theres a sort of custom difficulty thing. Hardcore + prestige or just one or neither
